Fantasy Football - Euro 2004 Final

The final round - the battle between two second string package holiday destinations, and an all around disaster for TV advertisers who were hoping for Germany v England or something similar.

The Match - Portugal v Greece

With only 5 points up for grabs in the normal scoring scheme of things, my thoughts turn to adding bonus points to this match to make it more interesting. So there are going to be two sets of extra points up for grabs:

1) Half time result:

Add which team you think will be in the lead, or the game drawn at half-time to your prediction. There will be two bonus points if you're correct.

Note - extra time will NOT count for any result predictions, as per usual.

2) Last Scorer:

Please post two names with your prediction for the first and last scorer in the match. There will be one bonus point for each one that you get right.

Notes
- extra time if played WILL count for first and last scorer points.
- if you think the same player will score both the first and last goal, then please post the name twice.
- if the 90 (or 120) minutes finishes with a 0-0 or 1-0 scoreline there will be no last scorer points awarded.

There we go, does that sound complicated enough for you all? Good smiley - smiley

Closing time for all predictions - 7:45pm on Sunday 4th July

And the best of luck to you all smiley - cheers

So what happened to 'first yellow card' predictions?

smiley - huh So if your nominated last scorer gets a goal that isn't the last one in the game, is that worth one point?

Even if he's the first scorer?

B - No yellow card stuff here. It's too negative for my liking.

Ormy - Good point. The last scorer prediction will only count if they score the last goal in the game, not any other. Your first scorer name will count for any goal scored in the game as per usual, except the final goal, unless you've given the same name twice in your prediction. In which case it will count twice if you see what I mean smiley - erm

Oh, and finally, any goals scored in a penalty shoot out count for nothing.

Secretly Not Here Any More

If you think it'll go to extra time, do you predict the score at the end of each period of ET?

I direst you to the sentence that says, "Note - extra time will NOT count for any result predictions, as per usual." smiley - ok

Could you legitimately predict 0-0 AND nominate a first scorer? After all, you've said that extra time will count for the scorer predictions, even though the last scorer thing doesn't apply in the event of a 0-0 or 1-0 result.

Another good point Ormy smiley - cheers

Yes you could; and what is more, you could predict a last scorer and get points for that as well if 2 goals got scored during extra time.

Did I mention somewhere about this being complicated enough for folk? smiley - sillysmiley - laugh

smiley - huh But you said: 'if the 90 (or 120) minutes finishes with a 0-0 or 1-0 scoreline there will be no last scorer points awarded.'

Yes but I said TWO goal in extra time.

You could legitimately say 0-0 for the 90 minutes score and give me the names of two scorers, and if they both score first and last in extra time you get the bonus points. Is this making sense, cos if it's not I'll scrap the whole damn thing smiley - erm

So first scorer covers any goal except the last, yes? And one goal is the first goal but not the last goal? And lasts corer can't get points earlier? OK.

See, I understand!

And B, you may have a chance of novertaking me, but you do know I'vwe got the Greek Goalkeeper in Phantasy Phootball, don't you?

OK:

Portugal 1-2 Greece
First scorer- Ronaldo
Last scorer- Theo "what? HIM!" Zagorakis

And Portugal to lead it half time.

Have I missed anything out?

That sounds right. If for example you though the result was going to be two-nil with a goal in each half, and that Dellas was going to score both, you'd post something along the lines of:

Portugal 0-2 Greece (Greece) (Dellas, Dellas)
