~~~Lord Polonius, we need you to deal with some fies in the dining hall. Please come quickly, before this whole building falls apart!~~~

*runs down the same alley*

*The Begger disppears behind a dumpstir and is no where to be seen.*

~~~Polonius. Please respond.~~~

*suddenly receives a message that someone needs help, but is not telepathic so cannot respond*

*runs out of the alley and back to the courtyard*

~~~Polonius, if you do NOT get your behind to the guild this INSTANT, I will come and DRAG you there by your EARS!~~~

*runs off to the guild*

*Lumien is moving quickly through the streets. She's in her robes, and that means everyone knows she's a magician. She knows she's vulnerable, and is keeping her eyes and ears open for any sign of trouble. She walks near a group of five beggar children, coughing violently. She stops, and kneels before them.*

It's all right, I'm a friend. *She pulls five bottles out of the box, and hands it to each of them.* Drink this, it'll make you feel better.

*The look on their faces indicate mistrust. Lumien smiles.* I know- I was in your place once. I wouldn't have trusted me, either. *She opens a bottle, and takes a small sip out of it.* See? It's safe!

*The children drink, and almost instantly stop coughing and smile. They even look healthier. The smallest one wraps her arms around Lumien's shoulders. Lumien is careful to hold on to the small purse of gold coins she carries with her. Another child, a dark-haired little boy steps forward.*

[Boy] Lady, my mommy and daddy are both sick. Would this help them, too?

*Lumien draws the last two bottles from her box, and hands them to the child.* Absolutely. Make sure they drink it all, okay?

*The boy nods, wide-eyed.* [Boy] There's more of us sick. Will this make them all better?

*Lumien sighs.* How many more?

[Boy] My brother, my sister, our cousins, my best friend Jim...

*Lumien is alarmed by some figures watching her from across the street. She stops the boy.* I need you to get that potion to your parents right now, okay? I'll be back tomorrow with more. I promise. Now go.

*She gives the boy a gentle push, and he runs off down the street, followed by his friends. Lumien stands, and walking swiftly, begins a circuitous path back to the guild.*

*it starts to rain over the slums*

*Lumien walks through the streets, looking for the boy from the day before.*

*follows Lumien looking around carefully*

*Sees the boy waiting nervously in an alley.*

It's all right, you can come out! This is Lady Alicia, she's a friend of mine. *She sets the boxes on the ground.* I have fifty doses here. Take what you need.

*The boy hesitantly steps out, and grabs a box.*

[Boy] H-hello...

hello...

[Boy] Are you a magician, too?

Yes I am also a magician,
lady Lumien and I are friends,

[Boy] Wow...

*He turns to leave, but stops and looks back*

[Boy] My uncle Oswald says that all magicians are yellow snobs who wouldn't lift a finger to help anyone other than their own kind. I think he's wrong!

*He runs off. Lumien stares after him for a minute with a blank expression on her face. Then she cracks up laughing.*
