A Conversation for How do I...?

If you want to wear some foundation but don't want it heavy, then pop a small (5p-ish) sized blob on your palm and then put the same of facial moisturiser on top. Give a quick mix with your finger and then just smooth the whole lot on your face, blending it well at your jawline so you don't get an obvious line. That will cover any blemishes but give a glowing look rather than a 'pancake face'!

For eyeshadows, browny/greyish colours suit most complexions, so as magwitch says, try the darkest colour on your eyelid, the lightest colour under your eyebrows and the middle colour to add toning rather than sever lines. When you've put it on, close your eye and give a quick brush over with a big blusher type of brush (make sure it has no blusher on it forst!) to blend the colours in.

Then a bit of mascara (brown is less harsh than black) and a bit of lip gloss and you're set!

When is your formal? What colour of dress do you have?

Thanks for the foundation/moisturiser idea, sounds good. Eyeshadow goes from lilac to baby blue as far as I can remember and the mascara I think is brown. I'll have to practise with it all at some point, the formal is in just over a week. My dress is dark purple (apparently 'aubergine' is the right word but I think that sounds pretentious smiley - biggrin)

Hey, aubergine is the 'in' colour and I'm sure you'll look fab! Those eyeshadows will go fine with the dress. Just practice a little bit and try and do it with someone who you can trust around. Hate to say it, but Dads are great for this sort of thing. I remember my Dad telling me for years that make-up was too heavy, too tarty etc and then one day he said 'God, you look like a grown-up now and your make up is lovely'!!

oooh! I'm so glad it went well. I hope you were able to have fun, more than you hoped your makeup looked okay. Do you have a mother or anyone to show you these things, by the way?

Thanks! Yeah, I enjoyed it more than I expected to, which was nice. And my mum never wears make-up so she wasn't very helpful at all. smiley - rolleyes

But that led ti more problems cos wun day when she wuz runnin' ti school she took off frae the ground an' the local Bobby fined her fer flyin' wi' oot a licence. :0)
