QI - Where did that tin go?
Geggs Started conversation Mar 9, 2011
This is my first stab at being a question master, and I'm about to go out for a few hours, but I want to get this going first:
It is widely understood that you know when you've been tangoed, but how would you know if you had become a victim of tingo?
No google, or wiki, and there are a few

No dingos are involved, as far as I know. And no klaxon either!

Is it (klaxon creep...) anything at all to do with Tin as a metal?

Reddy Freddy Posted Mar 10, 2011
I have a book called The Meaning Of Tingo...so I assume that it is, in fact, the meaning of "Tingo".
But I'll let everyone else have a (tin)go at it.

Robyn, metal is a I'm afraid.
RF, I've got that book too. And yes, it does contain, well, what it says on the tin(go).

QI - Where did that tin go?
Geggs Posted Mar 10, 2011
No, it's not a lexicon. And that's not a klaxon either!

Is tingo its full title or name and indeed should it be Tingo?
QI - Where did that tin go?
hygienicdispenser Posted Mar 10, 2011
Is it a compulsion to make contin(go)uous puns on the words "tin" and "go"?
QI - Where did that tin go?
Geggs Posted Mar 10, 2011
Bob, tingo is not, in and of itself, a title, so no capitals required.
HD, there's no puns involved, though there may be an element of compulsion.
As for the puns, hey, that's just the way it (tin)goes

It seems like the word is vaguely familiar but I can't quite remember it.
Is Ice involved?
QI - Where did that tin go?
Geggs Posted Mar 10, 2011
Well, there's many things that could be involved, so I guess it's theoretically possible that ice could be as well, though it seems rather unlikely.
So I'll say no in order to prevent any confusion.

I'm thouroughly confused anyway. I think I will sit back and see how the QI progresses awhile before saying any more.

Right, klaxon time. The question refers to a "victim" of tingo. So is it a confidence trick or practical joke of some sort?

Umm. I'm not sure either way, really. It sounds like it could be, but I couldn't say that it definitely is. Either way it something that the 'victim' would know has happened after the event.
