My grandfather always used to say never mix the grape and the grain... although I'm pretty sure he had no room for grape, the amount of grain he imbibed.

I'll let y'all read this one for yourselves.

The Guinness book of world records records that the the Cougar is the most synonymous animal bearing over 40 names but it has met it's match in the humble spud!

http://www.nhm.ac.uk/about-us/news/2011/february/you-say-potato-i-say-solanum-tuberosum94052.html

I was browsing the NHM website this evening and stumbled upon this story about cultivated potatoes have 600 synonyms (in the biological sense)

A graet many are found in Russia - which may or may not explain the link to using them to brew Vodka.

That's yer lot....

points...eventually.

In my first klaxon hunting list, I decided to throw in something that could not possibly be right. I thought 'cheese' or 'potatoes'. I settled on potatoes. But then, after typing 'Death', I changed it to 'Texas' (as in nothing's more certain than). If I wasn't such a smart arse, I'd have got it right first post. But not for the right reasons, so I guess that's OK.

And just cuz something's in the Guinness Book dinna make
it so. I would contest that water is by far the winner in the
synonym count. But that'd start an argument whether mist
was actually a synonym for falls. Or if bog was another word
for swamp. Or if brook meant river or rapids. If you get my
smiley - offtopic
