(takes a step back to have a look around then realises where he is)
Nothing to do with Douglas Adams is it?
I can't see a connection with Roger Moore but John Lloyd (QI producer) co-wrote a couple of episodes of H2G2 with Douglas Adams. He seems like the sort of person who would inspire a sideways view of the world.

"Nothing to do with Douglas Adams is it?"
Absolutely spot on there. It is as you say nothing to do with Douglas Adams.
Actually I have found a link with answer number three and Douglas Adams and H2g2 which is so tenuous that you must ignore it, although I found it so amusing that I will post a link to it at the conclusion of the QI.

I remember Jean Rook the journalist was once asked, by Michael Parkinson I think, who were the people she had interviewed who were most and least like she expected them to be. She said that she had real doubts about whether she would like Roger Moore and he turned out to be one of the nicest people she had ever met but that Eric Morley, the head of Mecca and organiser of Miss World, was just as awful as she expected, making a point of not looking up as she entered his office and making a great show of signing cheques for large amounts.
Other things I can remember about Roger Moore:
As a kid I saw him turn on the illuminations at Morecambe in the 60s.
He was in the early TV series Ivanhoe before The Saint.
The car he drove in The Saint was a Volvo because the TV company couldn't get hold of a Jaguar in time. A dentist in Keswick who opened a museum of Stars of the Cars tried to get hold of that car (number plate ST1 - Simon Templar) but settled for a similar model just before the original came up for sale which he also bought, so he found himself stuck with a duplicate.
Pick the bones out of that lot.

Inspector Gregory: “Is there any other point to which you would wish to draw my attention?”
Holmes: “To the curious incident of the dog in the night-time.”
Inspector Gregory: “The dog did nothing in the night time.”
“That was the curious incident,” remarked Sherlock Holmes.

Three answers, two people and what do you get when you put them together."

Taff, no points for that but I seriously suggest you knock up a three page background treatment and send it to the BBC, it looks like a winner

McKay The Disorganised
Hans Christian Anderson or Michael Abner
Not HC Anderson and I cannot even find a remote link that would amuse!
Who is Michael Abner? The only one I can find is a man who recently confessed to a double murder in Kentucky USA which interestingly is where Mammoth Cave is located, which has a feature named after Jenny Lind the famous Swedish opera singer with whom Hans Christian Anderson was in love and unsuccessfully proposed to.

Groucho Marx?
No. Groucho is miles away from the answer. As are his brothers, Chico, Harpo, and Karl.
Karl was the straight guy, the romantic lead, though I think he published a book that was pretty funny.
