A Conversation for Anagrammitis
Nice weekend ?
Icy North Posted Aug 3, 2006
And very nice it is too.
I just wanted some submilinal reminder that a conversation was on my PS, rather than Ask, etc.
Nice weekend ?
aka Bel - A87832164 Posted Aug 3, 2006
IÄ've been known not to scroll to the top of the page to look where I was posting to - posted some nearly embarrassing posts on 'ask' instead of Serephina's journal ( it would show at the top of your journals, too, if you wrote any ) where I thought I posted to
Nice weekend ?

I haven't worked out what to do with the journal. I'm not much of a self-publicist.

Hmmm, you could have let the world know that you have joined the ranks of the scouts, for instance - and there we are back to topic
Journal
Icy North Posted Aug 3, 2006
Do I need to tell people that? I mean, anyone can contribute in PR. All I do as a scout is recommend some of them to the editors once in a while, and I'm not supposed to discuss that anyway.
Journal
Icy North Posted Aug 3, 2006
...and I'm not sure if I'm expected to write (Scout) after my hootoo name.
Journal
aka Bel - A87832164 Posted Aug 3, 2006
No, I don't think you're expected to put that after your name, I only put the 'ACE' after mine incase people are looking for help - and it works.
And the journal is there to let your friends share things with you you're happy about, or annoyed with, or whatever, not to discuss which entries you pick.

Icy North Posted Aug 3, 2006
I think I'd soon get banned from the site if I discussed the things I'm annoyed about, but I take your point. Maybe I'll start sometime...

Mmm, things have become all very officious in here of late, scouts and aces crawling out of the woodwork like there's no tomorrow Don't you people have a life?
Hi B'el.....!

You're right, hootoo has been quiet, but what do you expect when you're gone ?
Icy's been on a holiday, haven't talked to him for ages, only just said hello this morning. No idea where chorlton is You can see, I've been deserted

Typical, that's the nature of this site, it's always the extreme, either jumping or dead. Nothing to do with me though I must add! Icy is online, I just spied him five minutes ago trying to sneak out the back door
Everything here, (anagrams that is
) are all a bit of a blur now, so , next time I visit I'll try to move some puzzles on, but for now I'll just chill...

Hey Arty! Good to hear from you again.
Hope things are going well - it sounds like you've had far more important things to do.
So how was it in England? Have you had a tour of the Bradford curry district?
Did you know that Bradford was a magnet for German migrants, and one district is known as "Little Germany"? Link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/bradford/content/articles/2006/03/13/little_germany_feature.shtml
Auf wiedersehen, Icy

Hi Bel
It would make a good hootoo article, but I don't really have enough local knowledge to do it.
There was a fascinating BBC TV series recently called "Who Do You Think You Are". It traced the family history of a number of well-known people. A couple of them including comedian Stephen Fry's ancestors originally came to the UK through the 19th century German migration. His family went to Suffolk, where they set up the sugar beet industry, if I recall correctly.

Nice one Icy, had a problem getting back from there though mate as the searchbar isn't functional for me but very interesting as B'el says, I wondered why the area was called that, now I know
Ah curries, now there's something not to be missed in good old Bradford Yes, I've tried some of the better establishments out of pure curiousity, but sadly I have been disappointed, I can rattle up just as good myself
A novelty at first, but you soon get sick of them
- like many other aspects of Bradford...erm..I've quite taken to cake butties (fishcakes), a delicacy unknown to Scots, they're very tasty and they beat the living daylights out of greasy kebabs no problem!

My dad grew up in a region which is, amongst others, known for its sugar beet industry. I think they still produce sugar there.
And you know that you don't really have to have local knowledge to write an entry about a place - although it certainly helps if you have.
