smiley - erm I don't really understand - cos am ill educated probably- but whose names were meant to be named?

"At a press conference after the wedding, Miller was called upon to name names but he refused and in May 1957 he faced a sentence of guilty of contempt of Congress".

Like, names of the bride and groom, or the name of the best man maybe? Seems harsh.

An interesting entry, Just a couple of points though.

I think that you need to check out Marylyn's given name. It was Norma Jeane Mortenson. (Not Mortensenon as you have it)

You could also mention that she was Christened Norma Jeane Baker.

Her second husband's name should be DiMaggio, (With capital M)

Hi opti,
Seems if you were to take out the quotes in this there really isn't that much left in the way of detail. In fact it would barely make an article to be honest. There is loads of info about on Monroe, I'm sure you could do a little more research and flesh out the artuicle without the need for all the quotes.

<>
That's not in a quote, that's what you have written. Do you use the word "fall" in your everyday conversations, Opti? Or do you use the word "Autumn"?

<>
sought after

This section:
<>

Do you mean that she turned down his marriage proposal? If so, it's not clear.

<>
bottle blonde

<>
What is a "farceuse"?

Niagra = Niagara

<>
Eh? That doesn't make sense.

<>
who brang
=
who brought
grave side = graveside
fourtieth = 40th

I have to agree with ST, specifically this section: "Monroe and Miller" tells me nothing of their four-year marriage.

Agrees with ST about depth of article. Worried that 'this hands around in PR for 2 months while the majority of the content is prodvided by the reviewers' is becoming routine.

Notes before I look at this in more detail later ...

Apparently Frank Sinatra was livd with various of his underworld connections after Norma Jean's death.

I personal enjoy the (most likely made up) theory that MM was having an affair with Einstien that meant that he gave up ont he really heavy duty science for a bit!!

Could end with a line from the good version of Candle in the Wind?

smiley - ok I have attended to all but a few points now they are as follows:

ST’s idea of fleshing the entry out more
Jon’s notions … seem like ways to flesh it out right?
Also her name tends to vary smiley - erm

Opti, you removed the reference about Miller being called to give evidence, there was no need. Look it up, 1957 was the McCarthy anti-communist era in the States.. build on it. Many more were affected; especially Hollywood. smiley - ok

<> then you need to check the "official" website instead of W*kipediasmiley - yukwhich has the incorrect spelling.
The film "Norma Jean" is logged at IMDb.
The single "Goodbye Norma Jean" is listed on Elton John's discography.

She was born: Norma Jean Mortenson
Christened: Norma Jean Baker
She changed her name from Norma Jean Baker to Marilyn Monroe smiley - ok

smiley - tea

Her mother was a negative cutter called Gladys Pearl Mortenson. Her father was unknown and wasn't recorded on the birth certificate. The majority of Monroe's youth was spent in foster homes, while her mother tried to scrape together enough money to buy a home. Once her mother was able to afford a bungalow though, her mother was hospitalised because of psychological problems1.

The repetition there does need sorting out. You introduce Gladys so in that para you can call her Gladys, and we'll know who you mean. It personalises her. The way you write, it reads like you have plucked sentences from various webpages and just stuck them together. There's no "flow" - therefore the reader is not engaged.

The Entry needs to be written by someone who can feel their subject's pain, for example you mention <> which does not convey Marilyn's pain at her several miscarriages and inability to become a mother, it comes across as something as nonchalant as tying her shoelaces.

The BBC state Norma Jeane Mortenson

I've sorted out the repetitive paragraph. smiley - smiley

In that case, I would suggest you name her as Norma Jeane (some sources spell her second name 'Jean')
either in brackets or as a footnote, smiley - ok

You say <>
I just did a search for the birth certificate and her mother Gladys listed the baby's father's name as Edward Mortensen (her previous husband) but his address as unknown. I found out her biological father's name as well.

There are a couple of other things I've found such as that Einstein notion and the idea of her having six toes on one foot. However, I'm not sure where to place them if you wish these to be included to.

It's your Entry Opti. You do the writing, we do the reviewing. Just be sure you are getting your information from reputable sources smiley - smiley

By "the Einstein notion" do you mean his quote: "Sit next to a pretty girl for an hour, it seems like a minute. Sit on a red-hot stove for a minute, it seems like an hour. That's relativity." I have heard that was a reference to his meeting with MM. It's perfectly acceptable to add that to your Entrysmiley - okand would make a great intro.

I'm having difficulty trying to marry up the notion that they actually did meet. The sources I've come accross say they didn't.

I can find no evidence that MM was having or had an affair with Einstien, so there's no need to incorporate TJM's suggestion, anyway, I think he was musing (or possibly fantasisingsmiley - tongueout) on the possibility. MM's attraction to cerebral men is well-documented though.
