Hey PJ,
Although I am not a proponent, or detractor, of vegetarianism - or particularly knowledgeable about its advantages/disadvantages - I'll offer this:
A) If this is to be a persuasion piece, you must counter objections that may be raised in the reader's mind.
B) If this is merely entertainment, you should punch up the humour, but give up the idea of the edited guide.
C) If this is to be simply informative, you should merely tighten up the logic, and perhaps add some advantages for choosing vegetarianism over carnivorism (or, in my case, omnivorism).
If the choice is 'C', I'll help on those issues I brought up:
Flaws in 'Reasons'
1: Include the disinclination that most folks have with killing their own meals, as well as concerns about the slaughterhouses.
2: Drop the bit about water, as it is a non-issue. Punch up the food value per acre issue of plants over cattle. If it stands up, raise the point that more money can be made on the same acreage, too.
3: Keep the taste issue for those that don't like meat, but add that modern methods of simulating meat are virtually indistinguishable. Some, like me, would still argue that they aren't quite there yet; but some people seem satisfied with veggie dogs and burgers.
4: Religion is religion, but address moral reasons that even agnostics and atheists might want to give up meat.
5: Find out what healthy vegetarians do to make sure they get all the nutrients and minerals they need, especially things like amino acids, oils, protein.
6: You still may want to mention Ebola virus here.
7: Define the groups that 'bragging rights' works in, or societal trends that makes this sound to be a good thing - like giving up cigarettes for both health reasons and being sensitive to the feelings of others.
Good luck with the piece, and enjoy your veggie dogs.

I will be deeply disapointed if this article gets selected without consideration of FordsTowel's points.

Well Thank You, SC.
All in the support of better guide entries. (Heaven knows that mine have benefitted from PR!)

OK, in the begining you mention eating with hands, then forks, hten chopsticks, then fingers. Pardon: but what is the difference between hands and fingers?
reason number 5, at least on my screen, seems to say: EAtin et centered diet.
REason number 6 Britian, not Britin
"The simple fact that being a vegetarian takes more time and effort than a meat-centered diet turns many people off from the idea."
The beginning and end of this sentence dont agree.
Rephrase: The simple fact that a vegetarian diet takes more time and effort then a meat-centered diet..."
Order and organization is a little hectic. YOu end off with the reasons for not being a vegetarian, which is weak sort of ending. PRobably you should use them in the begining, so you can knock them down more efficiently. Then, end off strongly, with a positive reason for cutting meat. If that was intelligable, you'll get what I'm trying to say.
in the intro: it doesn't flow exaclty from ways to eat, to things to eat. YOu should explore the things to eat a little longer before defining a vegetarian.
Ex: After "As many ways as there are to eat, there even more foods to eat." put perhaps something about the many food groups and the variety contained in each, and then slip into something about how vegetarians give up the meat and fish group for any of several reasons.
I hope this was helpful, I'm a little bit of an amateur editor,

Hey PJ, wha'happened?
You lose interest in this piece? I fear it is likely to be bounced to the Flea Market if you leave it unattended.
A few of use have done what we can to help collaborate on the piece, even if we aren't vegetarians. You may want to take a few minutes to incorporate the suggestions that you find useful, before you lose the opportunity.
This has been in PR several months now. An editor could bounce it, any day.

PJ, some folk have left some ideas and pointers as to where to go next in finishing this entry off. Are you still interested in completing this, or would you like to hand it over to someone else? (You would still be created as an author if it were handed on.)

"You would still be created as an author" -- he probably means credited.

Double Sorry for my lack of speed in repling to these posts, ubt I have been at the NAU summer music camp for the last two weeks, without access to a computer at all. I would love to have to have another author take this entry up and polish it off, as I've pretty much exausted all my ideas, and do not have enough knowelage of guideML to make it spiffy and guide-worthy. Please feel free to contact me by leaving a message at my space if you are interested.

I left a message with the author about taking it over and have created a new entry.
I explained about removing this one from PR etc. I still haven't heard back and it has been quite a while.
I can just go ahead and finish the new version then if you are going to take this out

I would say press on and get your revised version through PR.
This original has been listed on Mikey's e-mail message to the italics, done via the Scouts Yaboo group, so it will be on it's way out of here (hopefully) pretty soon.

I'll let you do that one, GreyDesk. Still feeling unenthused after my last two, given how many of those entries are still here.
