You are continuing to misspell 'vegetarian'. As well, you have a 6) but no 5). Other than that the entry looks fine to me.

As well as the vegetarian misspellings (it's really *not* vegitarian!) there are some more:
environmental inmacts > environmental impacts
alternataves > alternatives
religions belive > religions believe
unless you want to eat another human, you shouldn't any other living thing.
> unless you want to eat another human, you shouldn't eat any other living thing.
- actually, though if you're being logical here, as plants are living things, we should all live on water and air!
What's ' PB+J, '?
Getting enough protein is only a problem if you become vegan, then you need to either eat whole proteins like soy and quinoa, or combine to make a whole protein, eg any two from nuts, grains and pulses.
You haven't mentioned the reason I became vegetarian. I went on a retreat where vegan food was served for eight days. Whilst there I became ill in the first two days with stomach cramps (withdrawal symtoms from meat, dairy and coffee). At the end of the retreat, I couldn't eat meat or touch dairy and I gave up coffee. So in effect, my body rejected them!

Goodness! I had no idea I had misspelled so much! Oh well. That all will be fixed.
PB+J= Peanut butter and jelly sandwich

Zarquon's Singing Fish! Posted Dec 6, 2003
You'll need to spell PB&J out. I think you mean by jelly what we call jam here, so that phrase may not translate.

ZSF sez, in post 3 "actually, though if you're being logical here, as plants are living things, we should all live on water and air!"
Maybe, vegetarians don't like animals so much as they *really* hate plants.

I think this sentence could do with rewording:
3) One may simply want to be a vegetarian because he dislikes the taste of meat.
to:
3) One may simply want to be a vegetarian because one dislikes the taste of meat.
and
because his religion > to because religion (or because of a religious ban on the consumption of meat
and:
getting enough protein in his diet
to:
getting enough protein in the diet
More typos:
food preperation time, being a vegitarian > food preparation time, being a vegetarian

My
I have been a veggie for 16 years, and I disagree with the slaughter of animals in a farmed and commercial way.
If you want to eat meat, then go out with a spear and hunt a deer in it's natural environment. If you can catch it, then eat it!
However, having that kind of moralistic view is all well and good BUT...
What actually turned me to vegetarianism was eating processed meat. I was upset by the strange objects I came across in corned beef, sausage meat etc. Tubes (blood vessels) grissle etc so I finally gave up eating meat. And of course there are so many alternatives now that it isn't a problem.
My policy is - if it has a face then I won't eat it!
There is an entry on vegetarianism A124589 but coming at it from a different angle - Why become one? - can add other points
Like I said - just my

Another, quite common reason to become a vegetarian: if you are incredibly tight on money, you can live quite a bit more cheaply without meat. If you can only afford to eat meat once or twice a year, your body may not react very well when you do -- hence, sometimes it's easier to go "whole hog", and just cut out meat altogether.
And of course, the vast bulk of vegetarians I know today have become so solely because of the health benefits (or sometimes also because it makes losing weight easier for some people). Of course, this could be because I'm in Seattle -- but still, it's not an uncommon reason.

Very relevant at the moment due to the discovery of it in the US,
But do you think that diseases such as BSE has affected the way people view eating meat? I have spoken to alot of people about being vegetarian (in the UK),(only because they insist on asking me about it) and the majority response is that they have cut down on meat intake, because of the fear of disease. Ok we had a foot and mouth otbreak too, but it was the BSE problem that made people rethink their meat intake - in particular red meat.
What affect has these health scares had on vegetarianism in general, do you think? Fear and mistrust in the farming industry? Mistrust in government pacifying reassurances? Personally i trust none of them - having seen the "i give my daughter a burger" by a politician, to seeing the footage of people dying from it VCJD.
Just bringing the topic up as it is relevant to the entry.
Don't get me wrong - I am not a smug veggie. My reasons for being a veggie where the un-identifiable chewy bits in meat. The moralistic attitude followed shortly afterwards. And also being a vet nurse - seeing bits of pets chopped off that were in no way different to what people eat re-inforced that.

Mikey,
You are so right. i have stood in check out queues and seen people buying meet and nearly fainted at the cost of it!
I can't believe that people will spend £6 for a bit of meat for one meal You can buy enough fresh veg and pasta to feed a person for a week with that!

Actually, among the people I know who've gone veggie due to health reasons, not a one of them would give worry about infectious diseases (BSE, the bad version of e. coli, etc.) as the main issue. Truly, for them, it's really more a matter of long-term health benefits -- reduced risks for heart disease and some cancers, better bowel health -- than it is a fear of anything acute. While I do know some people here in the states who are really worried about antibiotics, hormones, or genetically modified feed given to meat animals, those people generally seem to chose "organic" meat rather than go veggie altogether.
Hmmmm... maybe it's just a difference between the US and the UK?

Mort - a middle aged Girl Interrupted Posted Dec 31, 2003
US/UK difference could be quite big.
I think if we had only had the BSE crisis then it might not have affected people so much, but followed by the foot and mouth horror it may have made people think twice. But as you say, alot of people have cut down on red meat anyway for health reasons and would choose poultry over beef.

I think that because we only just got over one farming disaster, before being followed by another then the British really had a re-think.
The millions of burning sheep and cows really affected people and, although F and M doesn't effect humans they started to question what they were eating.

Ok ill tell you what i think, erm i am a bit like you, 1 good entry and happy with it, but not everyone loves the subject, a bit suggestive i think.
And yet the more i think about this, the more people might complain about the title or ignore it, but if you start doing like how tos for 10 reasons and stufff, you know like in how to lose a guy in ten days? You could do little guides like that!
If you did you could then be part of that and then you could put in a great big guide full of them, if you do then you can make these all blend in and not very mny people would be worried about the title if they saw what was inside if some other work with a subject near would be reading.
In other words, if you had something like top ten reasons not to have sex, that might appeal to some people, then that could take peoples stress of looking at something like top ten positions. Or like top ten books in your library might be overlooked so you could go with the top ten great reads and where to get them for free!
I may sound like a rubbish idea, but im crazy and also it sounds good to me.

Now because you might ignore my entry above, then yes the entry is good, thats the point i tried to get accross but its the title, if you dont want to change it to ge more publicity to look at it and try and get it in peer review, how about trying what i said above?
Dozdim
By the way 145651 will be gone forever on 29/1/2004
Thankfully i only said that so i can still say Dozdim145651
just not 145651 on its own!LOL!

I think there are some points that you could usefully incorporate into this entry, Dodzim, eg that being vegetarian is cheaper than eating meat and the health scares like BSE.

BSE -which has reared it's ugly head across the pond , making vegetarianism / meat safety / food awareness very topical.
