Caretaker Conversation Part 4
Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence Posted May 23, 2000
What's your pleasure?
If I should seem not to respond to your efforts at conversation, Podex, please be aware that there's a lot of net congestion over at my end of the line -- I've already been bounced twice.
In that event, let me introduce you to the IIEM -- Infinite Improbability Espresso Machine -- which operates, so far as I can see, by wishful thinking. Whatever you want, it can do. But be precise. Our orangutang friend over there, Ook, came about when Vladimir asked the IIEM for a Blue Sumatran. Still, he's a nice fellow -- busses tables and beats eeryone at scrabble.
So what can I get you?

*BS wanders in just as Lil is asking.*
I know you weren't asking me Lil, but I'll have my usual cc((~)) I missed my early morning brew .

Well I noticed that you were missing!
----------> cc((~))
I'll be nipping out shortly to run some errands -- back before 6 BST, though.

That's alright, because I am here
*helps self to Special of the Month. Sits down behind counter ready to serve.*

*finally gives up on the IIEM after 23 failed attempts only 14 of which involved cocktail umprellas. and settles down with an irn-bru latte and what he hopes is a cheese toastie*
If anyone doesn't mind Blue Bols and Baileys in what I *think* is horlicks there are a number of new-variant CJDs (cypruss juice disasters) on the bar which seem to object to getting washed up.

OK PP, what do you really want? Coffee wise?
I don't understand your problem with the IIEM.
Look, it is quite simple really.
IIEM a cappucino please.
*a c)~( containing cappucino appears*
Simple really.
However, if you wish I will serve you a beveridge.

Glad you're back, Babel!
*surveys row of strange drinks*
I know what the problem is -- I think. We don't do alcohol here. Were you mayhap thinking of cocktailish thingies? Even though you were trying to think of coffee?
*sniffs* Nope, no alcohol in any of these. Ook, come here!
Somat, I did answer, more or less, about US medical schools. The equivalent of St. Thomas in London would be our John Hopkins in Pennsylvania, if you want to go straight to the top. But as I said, the best thing about studying medicine in America is the exposure to all kinds of gunshot wounds.
Lookit that, Ook drank em all.

As the natives say in these parts, I reckon I'll have me one of them doughnuts.
I don't for the life of me know how I'm going to paint Somat's infinitely regressive silver holograph mug. It hardly seems to be there.
