Why not put up the link to the Jazz cellar there? after all, pure jazz is all improv so would be perfect for the jam session!

Ah! I don't think the Jam session is even valid anymore -- I think the researcher who ran it left. But if you wish to give me a link to the Jazz Cellar I will put it on the front page smiley - biggrin

It's at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A583607. It was originally an idea about producing a band for the cafe by Yossarian Prefect and i created our own venue.

Alright, I'll add it. Thanks. By the way, the link to the Aroma off that page needs to be updated -- it has the wrong name smiley - winkeye

It should be "The H2G2 Aroma Café". Whatever is there now (I think it's something like "The Sweetly Perfumed H2G2 Café") is very silly sounding, as was the name that the Moderators changed the page to while I was away and unable to change it back. They were afraid that "Aroma Café" might be copyright infringement. I added "H2G2" into the title, and have had no trouble from the Moderators, and so I assume it's okay.

Your link is up, by the way!

I actually wish that the moderators could post to forums and such. They get a bad rap because they have a bad job, and I think that people would do less trash talking of moderators if they posted to the site occasionally and let us know that they were human beings with feelings, hopes, dreams, emotions, and the like. I mean, they're just trying to feed their families, right? It's the BBC that needs to have its mind changed, not the moderators.

See, I understand that. I just think that some of the BBC rules are way to restrictive.

In what sense? I know that when I tried to put a link to my bands website on my space they blocked it which annoyed me a bit!

You're welcome!

I think that we should be allowed to post in various languages. I think that we should be allowed more freedom with off-site links (for instance, hiding them AFTER they are proved offensive, not before). I think that we should be able to post ideas and concepts that may be controversial without getting them removed.

Basically I think we should be treated the way we were in the beggining, with postings being innocent until proven guilty, not the other way around. Were there a few researchers who took advantage of that? Yes. But they were dealt with first by the community, who wouldn't stand for it. If they persisted in being offensive they were reported to the Italics. It was a pretty good system, very few people were offended, and even fewer got so fed up with the rules that they left the site for good.

In all honesty, one of my alter-personas should have made this speech. As Irving I'm not registered as a Zaphodista.

I agree we should be able to talk about controversial topics and they should only remove external like after they're proven unappropriate - otherwise whats the point of a community if it cant do much as everything is regulated!

Roight! Then we're pretty much agreed on that, then. Would you like to join us in the main forum and have a cup of coffee with us? It's at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/F26140?thread=140977
