Perfect idea, blu.
I've been wondering about some of their identities too
Maybe we can refine your proposal a little, tho (if you allow me, ofcourse )
My url with seti@home links to my page on the web, while on my website there's a link back to both h2g2, AND my personal page here. I suggest we allow for this variant too.
People who don't have a regular website at all, have ONLY their page here, so for them there would be an opportunity in your suggestion.
Others who, like me, have a regular site as well, could choose from two options: Link to their page here, and then link through to their regular page, or the other way around!
How about that?
greets,
Fessie.

Yes... well, now for something completely different:
You're all invited to my halloween Party, lasting from now all the way to the day after Halloween... when we are all too drunk to do anything but stay home

Yeah, hope you didn't mind me using my personal URL, i just don't use H2G2 much at the moment so I figured i'd use that one instead.
I'm pleased to be part of the H2G2 SETI group though - a really cool idea i wish i'd thought of!

Ofcourse you're free to use the URL that you like, Dave.
It just would have been a LITTLE easier, if your registered name at SETI would have been the same as it is here. Now your name is different, and your URL doesn't help either, but if you check out http://www.h2g2.com/A195879, you'll see that I've identified you anyway, using the email-address you provide at your regular site.
Maybe making a link from your regular homepage to your personal page here would be a nice option.
Anyway, we're happy with all the support our group gets. Thanx for joining!

It's still 20, the same number I saw before... However, I noticed that a Brian has disappeared, and a Munchkin has taken his place.
I'll check Munchkin out, and edit the list accordingly

Hi blu!
On second thought, I've also edited my URL to show my personal page here. And you'll find a new entry at http://www.h2g2.com/A195879, showing how the group currently looks. I decided not to wait for Simon to show up, but just do it the hard way. It was fun to do, too!
I'm already thinking of creating another feature on my SETI@home articles: a box to help people to quickly log on to their SETI@home account-editing page. I'll have to do some more research on how to pull that off. Using the cgi-bin of a site other than your own can be rather tricky, after all. Let's just see what i can come up with
In the meantime, people may wish to refer to your post here on how to edit their account.

hi again, blu! I see you've OOPSed a bit... When entering the URL in your SETI@home account you may NOT enter the string "http://"! It should ONLY be "www.h2g2.com/U15304" ;-) their system will automagically add the "http://" bit. :-)

Sorry my personal page didn't really help you identify me, nice bit of detective work though! I've now added an H2G2 section to my site, which i'd been meaning to do anyway, honest!

Hi there - just thought I'd say 'hello' and introduce myself. I was wondering what I was going to do with all those SETI results I'd collected, so when the h2g2 group was created - well, what an opportunity
For those who are interested, I've been running SETI on our homegrown 20-box 450MHz Linux cluster here at work when it's not been busy (got to keep it ticking over...) and I tried it out on a demo DEC Alpha box that we had for a month or two. That was pretty darn fast, although Compaq Tru64 Unix isn't a pleasant operating system to use.
Well, that's enough technobabble - hope the group's success continues
Azimuth

Hi Azimuth,
Thanx for introducing yourself, I'll adjust my list to include your intro-page as well. Your set of results is a most valuable addition to the group's

I'm thinking of putting a penguin in my PC!
I just need to catch one!
Does anyone one know if there is anyone doing a search for intelligent life here on Earth?
Could make an Interestimg H2G2 club!

Would be pointless though, wouldn't it? If ever anyone's going to find intelligent life here on Earth, I hope they will introduce them to me, and vice versa.

To Blu: I believe you're not completely up to date on the current situation, my dear. Maybe you just haven't read all my replies to a wide range of your messages in threads where we were already engeged?
Anyway, doesn't matter. There are more options now. If you want to see the current statistics, just check some of the options at the bottom of http://www.h2g2.com/A193231 or http://www.h2g2.com/A195879
The latter also offers an option to edit your SETI-account.
