This entry, though interesting, is not as thorough as the Edited Guide generally likes to see. The Writing-Guidelines specifically ask for thorough entries.

If you'd like to see what the Edited Guide is after, here are some examples of entries on towns that made it into the Guide-

I suggest you remove this entry from Peer Review by clicking the 'X' or remove button on the PeerReview page. A good place to work on this would be <./>RF3</.> - The Collaborative Writing Workshop, or perhaps A1286886 - The Geographic Entry Writers Society

Well there are some more things.

Read through some of these pages to get more success in Peer Review - A264520, A395552, A266131, A53209. Things like first person references and smileys are rarely let into the main body of the entry.

So if I took the out its ok ??...& also add more detail to it ??..ie,more places around the resort ??...

I still think that this requires more detail and a great deal of formatting to work

Yes, you could still work on it, and you could get advice from researchers like me

so if i added a bit more could i then submit it once IM happy ??

I av jv just updated it a bit...I'll continue another time...but.but I cant remove it from that section...;-(

Hi Biriyani - just having read your entry, it's a good start but could do with a little more. So I've a couple of things to say...

Firstly, I'd like to invite you to join us in the Royal h2g2 Geographical Entry Society, which is over at A1286886 - we were set up very much with the idea of helping and encouraging new researchers to contribute this kind of entry to the Edited Guide.

Secondly, there's some advice in the Map Room (A1289621) about how to write this kind of entry on a place, and some pointers on what kind of thing you can include to expand it.

Also, from either of those pages there's a link to our links page, which has links to a few good examples of the different kinds of geographical entry.

Im happy with the entry,I had to change my name cos of the SSO thingy....n e way,now how do I get it into the guide ??....

Hello number 6...but I'm happy with the entry....I dont want it expanding etc,,,,so when will it appear in the guide ???

The thing is, in order to get into the Edited Guide, it will need expanding, the numerous spelling errors will have to be removed, it will need to be structured, have links to other interesting sites and so on.

So, basically you can either keep it how it is, in which case it is unlikely to make it into the edited guide but will still be able for everyone to look at (if I type Salou into the search engine your entry will come up) or you can work on it a bit more in the ways that have been suggested.

If you don't want to work on it, perhaps you could remove it from Peer Review?

Sprout...that seems petty,tty,,,I mentioned b4 that I cant remove it,Im on digi-box,,,& which words wrong ???....Why does it need expanding ??....All I wrote was a simple basic Idea of what Salou is like,folk dont wanna know 25 pages of stuff...know wot I mean ??

I agree that people don't want 25 pages of stuff, but they do want something that is well structured, covers the basics on the area and is written in sentences.

I appreciate that on a digibox you probably can't do Guide ML and may not have access to a spell checker, but some of this is written in txtspk - all of the Edited Guide articles have to be written in standard UK English and with standard sentence/paragraph structure.

On the issue of expanding it - It should at least say whether Salou is a village, a tourist town - what do the Spanish people who live there do? Has it got any history? If you look at any of the guide entries on places, they will all contain at least that much information.

So my entry wont get posted cos its not "written" properly ???.....I think thats unfair,ir,this site,as we keep gettin told is abo about "folks opinions" etc....& that entry is "my opinion" !!


I have had a post on the entry & they seem happy with it....

This is an excellent entry as part of the Unedited Guide, but as it stands it doesn't quite meet the standards required by the Edited Guide, the Writing-Guidelines. It's not necessarily that important - anyone searching the Guide for an entry on Salou will find your article whether it's accepted into the Edited Guide or not.

Personally I think that it's great that researchers are posting entries with their opinion of what places our like - to my mind it's exactly what our founder had in mind - you can read more at A550955.

But PeerReview is a very specialised place - if you're not interested in improving or expanding your entry, or responding to feedback others have given you, then it's not really the place for your entry. And it's entirely fair that your entry won't make it in to the Edited Guide if it's not written or spelt properly.
