Right.
I've added the suggested links, thank you and tweaked that bit of grammar.
Pinn, I can't find any reference to the Order of the Garter history - I've so far found sites which say it may have happened at Versailles or Windsor Castle. I'll be happy to add it in if you can let me know where you know this from.
The last paragraph (well, sentence) - I can't really see how I can add to that without it sounding like an advert for EH.

Nice entry! I'm going in the next few weeks so it's been good to have a read about it first.
One question, why is the link in the first sentence to the English Heritage page about the palace, and not to the actual website of the palace itself? http://www.elthampalace.org.uk/

I dunno. The other one has the EH header too, doesn't it? Although maybe that's an advert for their 'partner organisation', as it were.
Do you think I should change it?

Because there was a mistake in the gude ml when Jules first posted 'your' link, and I couldn't find out what was wrong, so suggested the other link instead. Then, after I had found out what was wrong, Jules had already changed it and decided to leave the other link which links to the palace site anyway. See post 2 and post #7

Personally, I like the one just suggested - it even has an excellent picture of the hammerbeam roof (in the 'Visiting Eltham Palace' tab)

Hi Jules
The Order of the Garter thing was a recollection. Now that I look though, 'order garter eltham' in Google generates 500+ hits, with Wiki *cough* being the most prominent attributor.
Windsor is the modern location for conferring. Don't know about Versailles, but a lot of sources say the incident probably happened in Calais. More still just say it's apocryphal.
I don't think you should change it anyhow. The Entry's good as it stands.

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.

I know this has been through PR already but I visited this wonderful place yesterday and there's one thing in the Entry which might need a slight adjustment.
In the section about the Great Hall the Entry says: "..built in the 1470s for Edward IV. It was to be a dining room for the royal court and had a minstrels' gallery..."
But the guide book and the audio guide are very clear that this was no more than a fanciful addition. Extract from the Guide book:
"The Courtaulds...made a series of interventions that might be described as 'antiquarian revival'..(representing) Stephen Courtauld (and his architects') view of what a medieval Great Hall should be like... Examples of this work include the Minstrels' Gallery which is pure invention and not based on evidence."
