a couple of comments (not risking more due to previous track record)

>>Japan is mountainous, but there are a few coastal areas

surely since there are 3000 islands, there is a lot of coast ?!

secondly I'm rather impressed that you managed to write an entry on Japan without mentioning

1) any of the cities
2) the 2nd world war
3) the emperor
4) machines that dispence used schoolgirl's knickers

BTW Gozilla = captial letters and I hearly think the special effects inthe monster movies are worth mentioning, they were all men in suits walking over models

Country entries are not easy.

But.

I think a short history section is in order;

The famous people and getting around sections are a bit random, to say the least;

Is there a bit on food and drink? Can't remember one.

Hiya!

A few comments:
smiley - marsTo make this ritual even harder the Japanese use chopsticks and say thanks to the person who made the meal before and after they have eaten it.
--> Hmmm... I don't really think that this is what makes the eating 'ritual' hard as all Japanese food is eaten with chopsticks...

smiley - marsThe Japanese like to accompany this food with tea and will go to great lengths to create a tea ceremony --> not too sure about the phrase "will go to great lengths".

smiley - marsThe Japanese like to accompany this food with tea a --> a mention that it is green tea. (You have linked to the green tea article but it helps with the flow of the Entry)

smiley - marsToday Japanese people usually can be found wearing the same clothes as western people. -->Perhaps a mention that a lot of Japanese city kids have also been wearing these clothes in an "extreme" way. They play "dress up" and walk around... I think that there is a term for this but cannot remember what it is.

smiley - marsJapan also sends many of its people to the Olympics and has held them three times.--> The Winter or Summer Olympics? Or both?

smiley - marsNot sure whether you should put geisha in the "Famous Japanese People" section as they are a group of people and your other notables are individuals.
Maybe include Ken Watanabe as a famous Japanese as he was in Memoirs of a Geisha and The Last Samurai.

Hope these are helpful in any way...smiley - smiley

I'm not sure where to look to find out more about Japanese extreme dress up. On searching for information on mountainous vs coastal I found most of it was mountainous I am not a geography grad so I dont know why this is. Finally, having trouble over writing the history bit.

Opti,
I suspect Japan is mountainous because it is in the ring of fire and has so much volcanic activity - volcanoes etc push up mountains... You get the gist of it, I am sure.. but to get the correct terminology, search on: Japan, geology, mountainous

I guess that explains why there is nothing about the 2nd world war

We are...although I haven't replied to you in it yet.

I'll give you a shout when I've got it in hootoo. At the moment, I'm just collating all the information I'll need to do the entry.

It will be Monday or Tuesday before I get anything online about it.
