smiley - applause I'd like to report a good deed done by others:

Today it was something like 97 degrees F and the head counselor sent us lifeguards nice frosted cans of diet coke.

15 minutes later the folks in the camp kitchen sent us a chilled bottle of apple juice.

STRANGELY STRANGE ( A brain on a spring )

I was taking a short cut through a local graveyard earlier and saw an older lady in tears so gave her a smile and a small wave, she smiled back...strangely, you hardly ever see anyone in there, but 2 people seemed upset today.

I'm not surprised someone looked upset today, the news is always terrible, it seems.

A smile makes a smile is something I've always told my little fledglings and it is true...

Well done you! smiley - applausesmiley - smiley

It was really nice, particularly since they tend to forget we exist except when they have something to complain about.

smiley - ermThey probably shouldn't have let us catch them congratulating themselves afterward, but nevermind.

STRANGELY STRANGE ( A brain on a spring )

At 1.30 I realised a dog had been tied up with string outside Sainsbury's for around an hour, I told the store and asked them to keep an eye on it and give it some water. I went back an hour later and it was still there in the 30c sun so called RSPCA, who said they would treat it as an urgent case. After 2 hours I told store I couldn't wait any longer and went. It seems RSPCA had phoned store at 3pm to say they were on their way. The store said they would keep an eye on dog for me after I went. A lovely old dog it is too, loves strokes and rolled onto its back for more!

MMF - Keeper of Mustelids, with added P.M.A., is now in a relationship.

My delayed report on my good deed from Wednesday.

Wednesday is the day that the store I work in stays open until 20:00, and the staff work one in four, starting an hour later. Last wednesday was not my designated late, that is next week.

However the admin clerk, who to gain more hours works all the lates, was desperately behind on her weekly reports. Like aboujt 6 months, and I don't think fully understands how to do them.

At 17:00 she asked if I could help her, so I said "Of course, but I am only here until 19:00" to which she said that'll be fine, little knowing the mess the paperwork was in.

smiley - yikes There were bills and sheets of A4 paper all over the place, with computer printouts all over the place.

There was nothing to do, but go 'lucky-dipping', and get the receipts and attempt to sort them into a sensible date order. Needless to say, and as you have probably guessed, I continued until 20:00 and will probably be doing the same thing next week, as then they have to be collated.

I felt good until the journey home.

The first problem was that the tube line was closed, so I had to take a bus to Hammersmith, which is about an hour. When I arrived there, I found that there had been a water main burst in Hammersmith main road, so all transport was diverted (and is until the 1st August at the earliest) via Shepherd's Bush. It meant that the journey home, which should have taken 40 minutes to an hour to complete. took over 2 hours. Last night was the same though, in fairness, due to lightening taking out my tube line, and a landslide taking out the alternative. The joys of travelling in London. smiley - ok

But I'd do it again...smiley - sadface

and probably will have to smiley - laugh

Well what are you waiting for?

Met a panhandler, but only had a few nickels. Went into store, bought candy bar, and gave the fellow a fiver.

Visited the well at Scotlandwell yesterday where four kids (about 9 - 10 yrs old) were trying to fish out the coins thrown in by tourists which is usually distributed to charity. In return for them giving my English colleague a history lesson on the well and the local area, I gave them £5. They were very happy and my colleague enjoyed the history lesson smiley - biggrin
