So therefore it needs explaining, for those of us who are fortunate enough to live elsewhere smiley - tongueout

Or not smiley - run I've fought and won a PR battle like this before.

This is about the teams - not really how they interact. If you want to nitpick on something, leave a message under our world series entry - A337042

I agree with Czyaki smiley - tongueout

The Guide is worldwide, and technically British-based. Therefore things such as this should be explained.

But that's not what the entry's about! It's about the NL - not the way the NL interacts with the AL

Now I'm confused... Are there leagues within the NL?

Danjo and all, what say you? Can this go in? Or does it need more clarification? smiley - smiley

Nit picks to make it more understandable to us Brits who have vertical leagues in our sports with promotion and relelgation. Plus a few others nits I'd like to pick...

---------------

Opening sentence change to.

"Major League Baseball (MLB)..."

this then explains the TLA used in the next sentence.

---------------

Second sentence.

Include something that says that the three divisions are broadly geographical and not one above another, which as I've said before is the way league sports in the UK works.

---------------

Fourth sentence.
"In October the top teams from each division..." how many teams? Is it just the top team or is it more than one team from each division?

---------------

Fifth sentence about the wild card kind of answers my question about the fourth sentence as it becomes obvious that it is the three winners of the each division plus one other. Therefore the beginning of the fourth sentence should read - "In October the top team from each division..." - or maybe winning instead of top

[My my what a lot of fuss and palaver over one little 's' smiley - smiley ]

Actually I think that's it. It was the scene setting for the league and competition structure that needed to be clarified. The descriptions of the teams seems fine to me smiley - ok

hi all! thanks for being patient with me while i've been away loafing smiley - tongueout

here's what i've tidied up, and my feelings on the remainder of comments smiley - ok:

i've ammended the first sentence as suggested.
i've updated the bit about the cardinals' new stadium to make it a little more precise (yes, 500 years is quite a wait, but i wish they would!)
i've removed the offending 's' from the 4th sentence smiley - winkeye
i've also added a footnote trying to explain the wild card position a bit further.

as for the rest...
"Major League Baseball (MLB) is the uppermost tier of professional baseball in the United States..."
i feel that this opening statement is adequate for defining the structure of the league as far as it needs to be for the scope of this entry. even tho european sports are structured on a 'tiered' system where teams move between leagues, this opening line states that mlb *is* the 'uppermost tier'. the entry goes on to lay out how mlb is structured. it doesn't say anything about moving between divisions or leagues (with the exception of the Brewers' move from american to national league, which it states was done to realign the leagues, not for any merit reasons).

i think that the names of the divisions (east, central, and west) make it clear that they are geographical divisions, not any one above the other.

i also think that any confusion on these matters can be cleared up by any conversations this entry generates which will also become part of the entry. further clarification can be made by directing interested parties to relevant entries on the mechanics of baseball structure. smiley - smiley

have i missed any other comments?
smiley - cheers

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.

If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.

Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
