Nice to hear about the lady and the little ones, Your Lorsdship. Trust that they behave in noble ways, eh? (Bamse? How quaint...)

But my dear Lord Duke, could you be ever so kind and take the time to explain another exciting (I'm sure) new word you have just used.

Ah, I see you've guessed it already. Yes, savages, as some of us shall henceforth be known as, is really a new but thrilling term in my vocabulary. Sad only, that I do not have the faintest idea what it is to be 'savages'. Could it be a plural form of a noun? Or is it really a verb? No, I dare go for the noun.

I shall await Your Lordships answer with manners as is befitting when in the company of noble brains.

Your humble servant as always

Bamse? Neverheardofit!
And here I am waiting for a new word and there is one thrust up my nose. Bamse! How is it pronounced. Does it rhyme with camps?

Winnie the Poo is one. A small one but still.. His Norwegian name is Ole Brumm by the way, I think the Danish is something completely different.
Why are you talking about bears?

Ditto, ditto! What's been up then? Ye ol' teaching?

Incidentally, I'm off to Denmark for a little vacation in late July. Taking family to Legoland and some sight seeing.

Ah, Legoland... Jolly nice, that.

Yes, still teaching, no smarter there. But hey, it gives food on the table and gas in the vehicle. And, at times, entertainment while making wages!
*Sotto voce* Kids - can't live with'em. Can't make a living without'em.

Have a nice journey. Legoland is 19 kilometres from where my mother was born.

We had a story in the news this week about a guy with a paralysed arm who worked at Legoland, Windsor. After 3 years they give you a little Lego model of yourself in an amusing pose doing your job. He has taken them to court as his model had an arm in a sling and no reference to his job. He thought it was hurtful and is suing... Do you think he should get lots of money?

They have now stopped the practice so no more little models of yourself. Seems a pity to me.

I'll look into that story. 'Aven't heard it before.

Ole, my man at home is in a wheelchair. A while back, a friend of ours - not a terribly good driver at the time - asked if we wanted to go with him, cruising the town. I said no, but Ole wanted to come. Then I first suggested that he should not go, but then we agreed that I could, theoretically loose my abilty to walk, and as he couldn't, he went along...
No hard feelings there. Why would there be?

Well well well...

How bad a driver is this friend?! You might have lost your ability to walk!? Is Ole OK?

Yup, he still can't walk! smiley - winkeye

Actually, the joke, at the time, was that said driver had not really obtained a license yet, but he had a turbo-car... As we are dependant on me having a license, and in Denmark the license is at risk if driving, knowingly, with an illegal - not license-holder - driver; so I couldn't risk going with them. Then I said to the boys, that Ole could go, as he could only become disabled* if they had a crash. Ah, on second thought, as he already WAS disabled, well...
And off they went!

Today, our friend has a license and another car. And nobody was injured.

-KC

P.S.: * = Disabled, "the ability to walk", there's a word covering that, but I don't remember it in English. Hence the term used in the other post.

I read the court reports in our local newspaper and half of them are driving related. People seem to drive without any insurance, licence, MOT (roadworthiness certificate) or anything and get a fine of about £30. And they may get a ban from driving for a year - but they didn't have a licence in the first place!

We have a word "lame" (rhyming with game) which means unable to walk but it's a bit old fashioned.

Well, he isn't lame, just put together by a bloke with a strange sense of humour... Hence his legs aren't to swell, but he's still a funny guy!

And what he doesn't have in fysiology, he has in raw strength! I still haven't found a jar, screw-on-lid-style, that he could not open.

Handy...

The normal rate, or maybe slightly higher. My main problem is getting the tops off my wife's nail varnish bottles.

Perhaps we can work out a discount?
