h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

*A flash indicates that a spaceship has entered real space nearby. The craft slows, and pauses in midspace. It is long, and black, with birdlike wings. It looks from the outside as though someone has used CLI technology, reverse enginered it, combined it with alien tech, and then recreated an even more deadly ship. This is exactly what someone had done. Any observer (but who's standing around, casually watching in the vacum of space?) would be looking at the Raven II. Inside, the all robotic crew alert the ship's systems that they have reached their destination. The ship's computer, Lenore, in return wakes the Masque from cryogenic hibernation in the cockpit of the vessle. He yawns and stretches, and in front of him a computer montior jumps to life, showing a "To Do" style list.*

Attention Doctor Sartasmus. This is Lord Masque, ruler of Planet X, and fellow student of immortality. Request permission to come aboard in order to verify your alchemical experiments, for the purpose of chronicaling a scientific journal on the sujbect. *El Masque does an all systems check and puts shields on full (just in case "trained on" actually means "trained using"), takes the ship out of orbit, and prepares for the landing sequence. Because the aliens who designed this model were basing it off of the original CLI model, the landing sequence requires background music. The Masque selects a tastefull number by NIN, entitled "Closer."*
