A Conversation for Talking Point: Accidents and Disasters
How did that happen?

I don't know if I'm the only one but I tend to notice cuts and and bruises without knowing how they happened. Even at one point not noticing that there was blood running over my hand from a cut until someone pointed it out.
The classic is managing not to notice for three days that I'd cracked a bone in my wrist. Yes it did hurt but I thought it was a sprain.
As I type there's a small nick on the palm of my left hand, I think it must be from clearing the picnic area at the Copperbelt Railway. But I'm not sure.
It's not that I have a bad memory, it's just strangely selective. I have trouble with people's names yet I can remember bits of the HTV startup music from over 20 years ago.
