This is an article I am starting to work on about being struck by lightning it is a bit rough still.
I was camping-sleeping with out a pad or anything below me. The lightning hit the tree followed to the ground and Me. The tree fell & also hit my head. I had a entrance burn wound at the top of my head the size of a quarter but very deep, almsot to the skull. My skull was fractured. Exit burns akin to a sunburn on the bottom of my feet. A couple of minor burns from zipper and jewelry.
I woke up startled felt I could not breathe was aware of the frightning thunder lightning. Felt I was hit by a baseball bat! But Gee Whiz my chest felt as bad as my head. Out like a light for many hours. Woke up in the sun, very late for me,for anyone camping. Confusion, no shoes or socks. The first thing I did was reach up to touch my head. I felt a tree with not a paper width of space between me and my head. Remembering the terrifying moment and then recalling all went Black? Knocked out!
Next day I was dazed, unable to think, see or hear clearly. No sense of balance.
I went to the emergency room and was told I was lucky to be there telling the story.
They did EEG EKG ear and sight tests. No one looked at my head (other than the obvious burn)or spine then. I was told I would be confused for a while then I'd more than likely snap out of it. Seizures for a while. My heartrate was bizarre. My sight might improve with time and my hearing problems would more than likey remain. My pupils would remain uneven maybe. My IQ dropped 20 points My hands, feet and left side were weird even though they mostly worked.
Years later as my muscle, brain, neck was getting worse and MS was suspected, they did all the head & spine scans and EMG. I have 1/3 top of my head fried, skull fractures, bleeds. Severe spinal cord compression and hardened muscles from being fried. Some feel the lightning went entirely down the left side, some both sides.
