Obvious innit... we remove all the bad guys leaving the good guys who are then unified in commonality. Simple.

'Good and bad' is just another way of saying 'us and them', generally when you're about to do something unpleasant to 'them'.

"Nope, I couldn't find it, maybe someone else will have more luck? I emailed the guy who wrote the article for the Guardian asking for more details, but there's no guarantee I'll get a reply."
Right, well I got a reply but it's not very useful unfortunately. Only a summary has been posted online and the full report costs rather a lot.

This seems as balanced as the Western World could want. Not perfect but a start.

Not really - perhaps good and evil would be more accurate in this case.

Who decides who is good and who is evil?
Don't let Dubya do it... rumor has it his barber has been added to the Axis of Evil list. His bangs were crooked.

You have to decide...... and no sitting on the fence. Who would you rather have living next door?? and moe importantly which one would let you sit on the fence?? Should there be a fence?? Ah there are always more questions than answers........... I give up...

You are welcome, Della. I am intrigued by the coverage by the rest of the world, since no one seems to want to talk about revisionism.

All I hear now, is: America won, who *cares* if they(we) lied about our moptives, if there *are* no WMD... we 'liberated' Iraqis by the score and so everyone's happy now.
That makes me very angry! Especially as Syria looks like shaping to be next.
Mind you, at the risk of provoking comment, I think events in Riyadh yesterday proved that not everyone is rejoicing in the Middle East, nicht war?

Post 288 explains a little, A. It can (and has) taken much subtler forms of late.
*bolshevism,marxism,leninism,collectivism,communism........sovietism, socialism,fabianism,Nazism,capitalism*
All of them have used revisionism at one time at another, Starbirth. Democracies as well.
Della, the whole *we didn't find WOMD or any tangible links with terrorism but we freed the citizens* is a total re-write of what was said initially, so it is in fact revisionism at it's worst.
My whole point was that the *winners* have short memories as usual.

next you'll be saying that liberating oil wells was worth the minimum 3,700 civilian (so far) body count. http://www.iraqbodycount.net/background.htm
those wells were well protected while everything else was looted.
I don't know... bloody liberals

I worry more about the bases being built to replace the ones in Saudi Arabia. On one hand it may lessen tragedies like Riyhad but on the other, isn't it what bin Ladin wanted? To remove Western military from the country that has the Holy City? If that is the case it may mean that to the average Musilim, his hateful tactics may have worked.

That's it, the threat to the USA. Take over Iraq, build some bases in the area, pull out of saudi and appese the terrorists and there by protect the US.
Wasn't bin Ladin an enemy of Sadam? surely his group would care less about US troops in an area of christian history...
In a sick way, it fits. Even though I'm reaching and wildly tieing things togeather.

I don't think there's been any revision of history. Everybody knows that WMD was the given reason for the invasion. But in the minds of many, finding hard evidence of WMD is not necessary to justify the war. The takedown of a tyrant and the liberation of an oppressed people is enough for them.
Obviously, the fact that the US is still looking for evidence of WMD, and that updates on that search still make the headlines here, shows that nobody is trying to pretend the whole WMD argument never existed.
Be careful when you make declarative statements about Iraq's WMD or terrorism links. I think any statement is premature, since the investigation is still ongoing. You wouldn't want to have someone coming in and saying, "I told you so!"
