Your black/blank pages may be the result of h2g2 being rather intermittant at the moment. I've been getting blank white screens here. But I must sign off now - someone's at the door.

of course, the sooner T.WEST launch their long overdue netTV.. the sooner we can ask them to do something about the machine's lack of memory...
[one can dream..]
another possibility would be to start a fresh page when the old one has become completly unaccessible for digiboxes [with a golden opportunity to give a new look at the same time to that project/page]...
as the BBC got rules about having its services accessible to everyone [or something around that] it will not be seen as uncalled for to [politely] require that the unaccessible official pages [when the problem occures] be replaced by fresh new ones...
always a silver linen somewhere...

had a chance to look at backlog... hehe...
beer garden... yeah... blame malo...
list divided in parts... yep... should not be too much a problem yet... we can still access the united friends page [250 names]... alphabetical order will be an headache tho' as some ex-LDers have an habit of changing their names regularly but a new list for post-whatever arrival... yep... could work...
i stop here in case more postings appear while i'm typing...

The <./>Smileys</.> page seemed to be inaccessible to some/many. Other people said they could get there by using A155909 instead. There may be different versions of digiboxes with different amounts of memory and perhaps the name redirection uses just that fraction more. Perhaps you could have a poll of how many people can't access which pages. An italic (Mina I think) already said they were considering doing something about the smiley page. They need to fit the winter collection into the proper places and might just consider splitting it at the same time. On the other hand, if there is a new summer smiley collection due...

i didn't have a chance to check the smileys page yet thanks to the servers behaviour yesterday []... i will have a look once i go back home [library and PC access time right now...]...
the smileys page might be a problem for peeps with slow computers as well methinks... lots to load... so what mina suggested would help quite a lot of people...
talk soon... some backlog reading to catch up with...

Is it possible to view the thread list for Askh2g2 in brunel on a digibox?
<./>/dna/h2g2/brunel/F19585</.>
NB This doesn't mean you'd actually want to go into the threads that way (ie still in brunel) but that's a separate persistance/overriding of preferences issue.

When ACEing most ACEs direct newbies towards the <./>smileys</.> page, shouldn't this be pointed out .

SEF Posted Jun 26, 2003
It has been pointed out previously. You must have missed it. However, I haven't actually seen any stats on how many digibox users can use the number but not the name(s). If I guessed someone was a digibox user, I used to point them at the smileys but warn them it might be dangerous (leaving them to decide their own acceptable level of risk or reboot annoyance).

i clicked on the <./>smiley</.> and didn't have any problems...
as i said somewhere else the difficulty in accessing some pages [or own space] can be caused by many factors..
if a digibox user encounters some difficulties it might be a good idea to direct them here so that we can look into the reasons why it happened.. and at the same time we can find out any new pattern that emerges from it..
got to but talk soon everyone...

good preventive measure...
but that won't help us much testing the little trick [from the good old days of the "360 trick" ] i've got in mind tho'...
so my suggestion is still the same: if there are digibox users having problems with accessing some pages [or spaces] _do_ guide them to this page please...
kinda makes it easier than having to lurk to find out about it...
talk soon...
