I'm not good
Well
I got an A*
Same in German
Never got the chance to do Spanish
But A and A* was the norm at my school - My 6 A* and 3 A was pretty low compared to my friends

Loup Dargent Posted Jul 7, 2003
yep.... sounds right..
i didn't have to learn that with french being my first language and all... but i can see it definitely be included in my tutoring...
right timing as well as i've been assigned a second client..
not bad considering i started working for that agency last week...

hi louo, lou and loz i hope you do not mind me being here. that's sounds a handy way to remember e words that go with etre. i actually started learning french at the age of 8 in ashington and was very good it but i moved down to london and had to wait until i was 11 before i started again. we did not have any french phrase books, if you missed any lessons the teacher did not tell you what you had missed. i was struggling but the teacher was not interested in helping me. all we had were excerise books and nothing else.
loup i am very glad that you have another student.

we were not taught any short cuts in remembering anything. if you could not understand anything it was tough. i have very bad experiences as the teacher was only interested in teaching the bright students.

Loup Dargent Posted Jul 7, 2003
yep... teachers in these days were not really trying to encourage the pupils...
about new student... it's only for 8 weeks this one but at least that shows that i'm on the agency's priority list..
talk soon..

thanks loup but i know this time it will be different might learn how to tell jokes. when i was learning to play the piano and when i have done any cooking there have been quite a few french phrases and expressions.
i am very glad that you are doing so welll as a french tutor and i know that you will always encourage your students as they learn.

Loup Dargent Posted Jul 7, 2003
kat... yep.. there are quite a lot of french expressions and words in the english language...
lou.. regarding "avoir" it struck me that it's _the_ verb that goes with "etre" [to be] and "avoir" [to have]... i will have to be careful not to confuse people with it...
aaaaaah the beauty of the french grammar and its illogicallity...
kat... about encouraging students... yep... a little bit of encouragement does wonders...
talk soon..

english is quite a strange language and has lots of contradictions - gnmone is pronouned nomone, school is either prounced softly or hard.
words like neither are either prounced as nether or nither as well as words like rose, windy have several meanings. i think this is due to the fact english is a hybrid language coming from various sources norman, scandinavian, german, latin, greek, east european, and asian sources.

Loup Dargent Posted Jul 7, 2003
yep...
that's one of the technics i use to show people that they know more french that they think: showing them the similarities between some english words and french words...
i have to go offline now...
talk soon everyone..
