PSYCHOCANDY AND KRISPY BECAME ENGAGED ON JULY 23, 2003.
Cindy and Chris meet out here on H2. In March of 2003, he got to meet her in person. He was staying with us at the time. He came home from his date and we had to peel him off the ceiling long enough to tell us about it. “…She’s cute. We talked and we cried and we hugged and we kissed. I think this just might be….” I met with Cindy, for the first time in person, in April. Among other things, we talked about Chris. Her version was a tad different. “Nothings going to happen. I like him but he’s not interested. Just as I was boarding the train, he gave me a peck on the cheek.” Hmmm…are we talking about the same date?
(please note, these are not exact quotes, but pretty d*mn close!)
Well, WE knew long before they would admit it. They were in LOVE.
(But this is how Barton and I meet, electronically for months, one meeting in person, and love at first sight).
Rats, digressing again!
For months, they kept telling US how much they loved each other. We kept telling them WE didn’t need to know….share it with each other!!!
Krispy was scheduled to come back to the states in July.
He had planned to propose the traditional way…in person, on bended knee, ring in hand.
The powers that be foiled that plan. Argghhhh.
He had to settle on proposing via the telephone. They managed to keep it secret for oh about 6 hours .
Until she could have the real thing, I gave PC a ring as a placeholder (F119825?thread=270338&latest=1, post 58-which should have read Wednesday-when you're trying to keep secrets, it's hard keep days straight).
(Note to Chris: Barton and I picked out my engagement ring together. He kept it and managed to give it to me in the most romantic way and in the most romantic place possible. It’s not as elegant as an on the knee proposal, but I bet you can find a ‘suitable’ place to put it on her finger….. )
BTW… The plans are, starting August 23, Cindy will be visiting England for 2 weeks. Chris will be showing her the sights of London and Ipswich. I don't think they will have a lot of time to post.
During that time, don't expect to see too much of them out here.
Don't worry though. They will be in good hands...each others.
BEST OF LUCK
ALL OUR LOVE
BASHERT
May you never thirst!

Tsk... Merkins. Never were ones for SUBTLETY, were ya?
It's true. I love Pc and more so with every contact I have with her. If I had as much time as I liked online I would have made it more obvious, but I've been all over the place geographically, emotionally and spiritually, and worse I don't even have a computer at the moment .
She's as beautiful as she is funny as she is strong as she is patient, and that's a f***ing lot - as she is aesthetically astute where matters of music and cinema are concerned. It's probably going to be a rocket-fuelled honeymoon, not least because we'll not even be wed at that stage...
But Pc and I are two very broken-hearted people who've hidden from the world for a long time looking for someone like each other. Between us we've got enough survivor guilt to feed five thousand, and enough PTS to blow 'em all to sh*t straight after - but for now I think all we need do is get together, hold each other.
I love you Pc, dearly and with all my heart - and I can only wait for you to be here a little longer because I have been all my life.
And thanks and love for bringing us together, Barton and Richenda, in spite of ourselves. I love you all the more for your fortitude.
Love to all.
ADDENDUM - "Chris will be showing her the sights of London and Ipswich."
Should read: "Chris will be showing her the sights of London. And Ipswich."

Thank you, Barton and Candy, for taking the time to write that beautiful announcement. you can stop chomping the bit now, Candy, I know you've been bursting with excitement as I had. Subtlety, pffft! Gimme a megaphone and get me on a clock tower! And thank you and love from me as well for helping bring Krispy and me together. We deserve each other, and thanks for helping me see that. I'd waited, and hoped, my whole life, but never thought someone so wonderful could really love me, till now.
I love, trust, respect and admire Krispy more than I ever thought possible to do. He's beautiful inside and out, scathingly brilliant, witty, and funny as hell. He's kind, compassionate, and a true gentleman. And yes, he has exquisite taste in music and cinema as well. I could go on all day- he's everything I've been waiting for and then some. Bashert.
Krispy, I love you, too, with all my heart. More than words can ever say. I'll be there with you soon. After a lifetime of waiting for you, three weeks sounds like eternity. I love you.
As much as I'm looking forward to seeing London (I've never been!), and Ispwitch, I know no matter how wonderful either place is, they'll only be such because Krispy is there. And any beauty to be found there will be far outshined by the beauty of the One I love.
Love to all and all around
PC

Tries to restrain herself (unsuccessfully) from screeching:
"I knew it, I knew it, SEE, WHAT DID I SAY?????"
Happy ever after time, love to you both, I have plenty to share.....I know just how you are feeling; off to London myself on Friday.
It's so, so good isn't it?
Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.

I go away for 2 weeks, and look what happens!
All kidding aside, this is wonderful news to come back to! PCandy and Krispy, I am THRILLED for you! What a lovely, lovely couple you make - a perfect, and perfectly romantic, couple. You two deserve every happiness, and something tells me that together you will find just that! I couldn't help noticing a couple earlier posts which noted that both of you have good taste in movies. As a profound movie nut myself, I must agree. So here's a cinematic toast, to both of you: "Here's looking at you, kid!"

Thank you, everyone.
I just have to say, re-reading the part of Richenda's post where she says Chris had to "settle" for proposing via telephone... it was, in fact, *the* most romantic proposal a girl could ever dream of.
The powers that be can do their best to make things difficult, but we've got a stronger and higher power on OUR side.
