Somebody just told the Manglement that there is a New
Millennium...and they want to visit the dealership to see the 'new
car'...

We, here at IPR, YFITA, would be the last to suggest that some of the more August and December of our Bored of Defectors and our Senor Manglement are 'behind'.

That would require a mental fiction that we believe that they could become, um, 'ahead', or, even, horrors, 'along side' or, more frightening, 'about to catch up'.

One timid soul in the Ladies Room is once rumoured to have mentioned that having a management that is not 'strictly modern' has it's advantages. We are forced to agree. The less they truly understand, the happier they are and the sooner we get home.

But it does make it hard to make improvements around the physical plant when some of them still believe that the coal truck stops here twice a week and that there is a furnace and a fireman in the cellar...

Someday we'll find a way to make this fallacy work for us. Until, then, we still have to find wonderful and marvellous ways to convince them that air conditioning is a kind and useful thing, as the old excuse that it is a rat trapping and disposal unit (which is why it makes so
much squealing and thumping) is about worn to shreds.
