a rather interesting book was written by a journalist who happened to live opposite the former member of the dammed.
Rat scabies dragged him into a fair few trips to france to visit Rennes-le-Chateau and other site connected with the Grail mystery ... obviouly finding nothing, but it is a good explantion about the various bizzare theorys surrounding the grail and the Henry Lincoln book.

He's saying that the musician called "Rat Scabies", who was the drummer for "The Damned", was really into all the Rennes-le-Chateau conspiracy theories.
Many people were taken in by them.

Oh, thanks for the explanation. I thought that the Priory of Zion people had great fun planting all those funny clues -- it sort of reminded us of the silly American flick 'National Treasure' which sent the Americans on a hapless Masonic treasure hunt with a map preportedly located on the back of the 'Declaration of Independence'.
We were in Philadelphia at the time where you can see George Washington's masonic apron in the Great Lodge's museum.

it did point out that Syon House in west london was on the site of an old priory ...
Syon ---> Zion
so after all their traveling from Brentford to France ... it was just as likely that the grail was buried a few miles away.
It also did make the point that it was mostly a bunch of rubbish, and every time the Da Vinci code got mentioned it was because Rat was using the cover to make his roll-ups

For anybody who ready "The Da Vinci Code", here's a photo of one of the places mentioned in it:

Mmm... yes, who cares.
The staccato writing style of the entry is compelling.
Has a hint of the Wikicompetia about it. Fair dues!
It was completely re-wiring my understanding of the complex
interplay between the Arthurian legends with the origins of
chivalry and early literature like Morte d'Arthur.
It was nice to finally find out who Joseph o' Arithmathea
really was, what he done and the mystery of what he done
with the blood.
By this point I'm suffering TMI (too much inewformation) and
I had to push pause about where it headed off for the German
equivalencies, so I do hope something will bring me back to
this thorough and refreshingly iconoclastic lesson in History.
Thank you, Gnomon

It's symbolism at its most rampant, but you can carry the iconography as far as you like because it pervades modern society.

Yes. I read the rest of it after a good night's sleep
and could feel the 'shift' in the more modern notions.
An amazing mythology all round.
Thanks for bringing it all together.
