New Smileys on the Block

How does one go about creating a smiley suitable for use on h2g2? That tricky little problem was thrust into the eager arms of five artistically inclined guide researchers, and what they produced was officially premiered for the first time on Wednesday 21st August.
Asteroid Lil, Amy the Ant, Doctor MO, Greebo T. Cat and Jimster took up the Smiley challenge, and the fruits of their labours have been added to the collection of Smileys already available for you to use in your conversations and in your entries and on your homepage. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly?
So what is the feeling around h2g2 about these new interlopers, we sent our intrepid reporter
into the thick of battle to bring back these exciting snippets of conversations. Links to the
relevant conversation are after each researcher’s name.
Looking again at that towel smiley I see it's unfinished: the lower portion has no outline. And look at those oh-so-innocently raised eyes. What is going on beneath the towel line? This is no more than a gratuitously titillating flasher smiley! And the boastful wee thing brings a whole new meaning to 'The Post'.

I now have a redwine smiley. My life is complete (well, in the h2g2 sense anyway). I shall never wish for another smiley, unless I need an 'asprin' smiley for the day after.

The Final Word
So there you have it, all the new Smileys in their glory, and just a small portion of the praise, criticism and merry making going on at not a few conversations around h2g2 at the moment.
They are nice, they look nice, some even look like they taste nice, they are now part of the h2g2 legend, share and enjoy. But remember, a Smiley is for life, and not just for the current conversation.
