Chain of Command.
Good episode.
Patrick did well and yes it was very well directed as well.
Apparently he was actually knaked for some of those scenes.
Patrick/Picard would never look like a pansey.
something like that.
FoxyBabe Posted Jan 20, 2003
uh uh, I think, I think, you've got that the wrong way round, it'd be Janeway kicking Picard's a$$ across the galaxy.
Interseting thought that, TNG v Voyager. Oh and the majority of females know exactly why men like 7 of 9.
I think we've all got the message loud and clear-I think does not like Archer from Enterprise. (he's not not bad.)

Amanda Posted Jan 20, 2003
Sorry, Picard rules.
Janeway would have no chance.
She is only an admiral cause 7 got the Voyager back.
Picard would have been an admiral years ago if only he would let them promote him.

to foxy,
i like 7 of 9 b/c she's smart, no nonsense, pragmatic, and doesn't get all emotional, like Tom paris and Cpt Janeway.
well, that and she's hot
to Amanda,
i agree that Picard handled the torture as well as anybody could. he also did quite a nice job of devouring those worm thingys out of that egg
and, that was one of the most kick a$$ moments in TNG when picard screamed [as much as he could muster at that point] to that cardassian mother-F**ker, "There---are---FOUR---lights!!!!!".
IN YOUR FACE, you cardassian bastard!
the thing that i didn't like was when picard was talking to troi at the very end and confided in her that he was going to tell the cardassian that he saw 5 lights not only that , but he said he actually thought he saw 5 lights
questions to anybody
why couldn't they take that metal stuff off of Seven?
why does DATA desire to be more human if he has NO emotions and DESIRE stems from emotions?
Q is omnipotent. but, is he also omniscient?
just a comment
i saw a TNG episode yesterday in which the Enterprise was damaged by a quantum filament. i was amused when Troi asked O'Brien if that's the same as a cosmic string, and he replied, No, that's an entirely different phenomenon.
another amusing point. the enterprise was disconnected re: communication, so nobody knew if anyone else was still alive.
so, part of the crew not on the bridge [i think Riker, worf, and data?] said they had to assume that everybody on the bridge was dead and there was no one in command of the Enterprise.
as Troi had, in fact, assumed command, i thought that this was just about as good as their worst scenario assumption. or maybe even worse.
they shoulda said, "We have to assume the worst; that Troi has assumed command of the Enterprise."
i THINK out!
something like that.
Amanda Posted Jan 20, 2003
The character of 7 would have been boring if they took all her borg bits out.
Data has an emotion chip, although I think he desired to be more human before he had it, in fact, I know he did.
Maybe logic made him realise he was lacking due to not having human qualities like emotions and feelings and made him believe he wanted to be more human like.
I like Troi. She is soooo dizzy! Makes you laugh, although she has got better.

i think they went overboard with the skin tight bodysuit on 7. i'm a guy and appreciate her form, but, come on, that was absurd
i'll buy your explanation about data
about Troi. well, she's good for one thing and one thing only.
to make fun of
Troi: "i'm sensing hostility."
and there could be like 3 romulan warbirds decloaking and powering up to fire their disruptors at the enterprise.
what a f-ing retard
petey out

Amanda Posted Jan 20, 2003
She just sits there (Troi) and smiles and makes faces like she has wind.
It would not be the same without her.
something like that.
%- | ? Posted Jan 20, 2003
on with the Troi bashing
now, i've been trying to make sense of this for a long time...
why the F--- does she sit next to picard on the bridge?
makes NO sense at all.
she belongs in the cargo bay
btw, did you see the episode called "Ship in a Bottle", i think?
kicked a$$...
something like that.
Amanda Posted Jan 20, 2003
This is one of the wonders of the world, people literally spend hours wondering why Troi sits next to the most gorgeous captain in Starfleet smiling and sensing great anguish.
Picard would probably prefer a Earl Grey, Hot.
something like that.

so, i'll stick it in for critique by trekkies
i figure that folks who like star trek would find my little memory spiel kinda interesting
Subject: My take on "memory"
Posted Last Week by i THINK
Posting 1
when i was a kid, i used to think of memory as a library inside our brains with books being specific memories. this analogy is not completely incorrect, but it's a bit misleading. the neural correlates of memory are as follows:
Memories are probably more like specific "ghost" patterns of previous specific neural activations that occurred [and, thus, correlated] with past experiences. the residues of these patterns remain... like imprints [neural structural and neurochemical changes allow this], some more immutable than others...when something leads to re-activation of these patterns, then we experience "memories"... ,
ps: These patterns that correlate with memories are widely distributed throughout our neural networks. that is why the analogy of discrete books in a library is misleading.
AGREED?
ok, who here can't stand Enterprise?

DS9 is the best star trek series. i'v recently watched them all, and ds9 is the best, followed by TNG, folowed by TOS, followed, by voyager. enterprise just meses up timeline, which is why i think time will be changed at end because of incident in temporal cold war.

I'd have said DS9 was the worst... what timeline does enterprise really muck up?

DS9 was so the best. great characters, continuing story line. first time a star trek series did something like that, instead of epiodes that are more standalone. DS9 you have to watch in order and watching them all in a row is brilliant. i;ve done the same for all other series too, and DS9 is a totally different ball game to the rest, which gives it an edge.
Timeline Enterprise mucks up:
1. they met the klingons 50 years early.
2. romulan ship designs are more like TNG then TOS, being green.
3. romulans have cloak, a technology which was meant to be a new romulan weapon when romulans firs appeared in TOS.
4. messes up klingons with bumpy heads a bit odd.
5. klingons gained holographic technology, yet they have never used it in other series, and it doesn't appear in federation until TNG
6. The cold war is not mentioned anywhere else in star trek.
7. SPOILER:
the borg will be appearing in season 2 of enterprise. not sure how that will be done yet, but the borg were never meant to be in that region.
8. technology seems more advanced in Enterprise then in TOS.
9. the ferengi appear, and they have Rules of Acquisition etc, while when they first appeared in TNG they were more primal.
there are more but i'm thinking of the top of my head.
there are also inaccuracies in many points. for example, it only took 2-3 days to go from Earth to Kronos at warp 4.5.
the only way it will work, is if the whole of time is changed by destroying the evil guy from future at end of all series, changing time so that everything is different.

Enterprise + Timeline = disaster.
Amanda Posted Mar 21, 2003
I have to still say that TNG is the best. But I am biased towards men British men, with bald heads of the thespian variety.
Enterprise does seem to have messed things up a little. (A lot actually) I think it was a bit of a daft idea.
But there you go.

Enterprise + Timeline = disaster.
Tango Posted Mar 21, 2003
Timeline - most of those will probably be explained by the timeline changes, but the rest are just the people being stupid. I had a feeling it wasn't going to work very well when i first heard about it. Klingons with bumps is not enterprises fault. I think the worst bit is when the *same characters* in TOS and DS9 has different makeup... (Kang and someone i think) In the tribble episode of DS9 Worf says something to get people to shut up about it, something about "not talking about it to outsiders"...
And, before i go, what has TNG got to do with british men?
