Jim Carey would be perfect as Eddie the Shipboard Computer; and so long as Steven Moore lives there shall be no other Marvin. smiley - bigeyes

Vivien,
You are full of Beans, Vigor ,and Vitality.I saw a serial on TV which reminded me of Dr.Who,in which the whale, and a glass of water were, while in transition, contemplating landfall on a new planet.
Get ready for the fish,

For Arthur, I agree with what I understand is DNA's choice: Hugh Laurie. No-one does bemusement better than Hugh.
For Slartibartfast, how about the very great, much underrated Eric Idle?

I thought that Jane Seymore was one of Hanry 8th's 6 wives... uhm, possibly a mix up [my fault, no doubt smiley - winkeye] here... I expect theres an actress by the same name smiley - smiley

Yeah, I have the tape of the original cast re-reading HHGTTG, and it said on the box that Disney were making it into a film... however, jim Carey does NOT strike me as the best choice... he is very annoying! They MUST NOT have him in it! Noooooo!!!!!!!!

There is indeed an actress called Jane Seymour - a vacuous, talent-free superannuated James Bond girl whom the HHGTTG film could well do without, IMHO.
But Jim Carrey would be even worse. Apart from anything else, Carrey (I'm sure that's how it's spelled) would want so much money that there'd be no budget left. He's also prone to over-acting, and would dominate the movie to its detriment. smiley - yuk

As I suggested earlier, Carrey would be perfect for Eddie the Shipboard Computer, with the twin bonuses of not needing to see him and only having to pay voice-over rates... smiley - ok
