Scaroth, Last of the Jagaroth Posted Apr 9, 2001
Salutations, my dears. Would anybody care to explain what is going on here? It would save me an awful lot of time if someone would be kind enough to provide me with a summary of events thus far.

Miss Emily, I thought I'd find you around here somewhere... Have I p***ed you off in some way? Please e-mail me or something and let me know how you are anyway...
And the same goes for Pat if he's about...

errr... scaroth was it? do you want a summary of what's happened in THIS forum? because it wasn't much.

manolan Posted Apr 10, 2001
Well, what happened was we got well and truly OT. And all the more interesting for it!
BTW, I had realised that 'charlatan' is the French for 'quack' in the sense you described. Was that not clear from my posting?

Yes, it is Scaroth for whoever was asking. And, if I am not mistaken, the general "jist" of this forum was to moan about amateur dramatic productions before degenerating into babble concerning French words. Am I right?

Absolutely. This time it wasn't entirely my fault that we strayed from the subject in hand, namely stage crew on high school drama productions, poor dogsbodies that we are.
Mr. Odie - no, you have not pissed me off at all, but I've become something of a recluse, like whatshername in David Copperfield - you know the one - only I can't remember her name because I can't stand Dickens. This week I have been mostly reading "Dubliners" and books on David Hockney.

Scaroth, Last of the Jagaroth Posted Apr 12, 2001
Well, at least that has been cleared up now.
Is there any particular reason for your being a recluse and research (I am presuming it is research) into Hockney?

Emily 'Twa Bui' Ultramarine Posted Apr 12, 2001
Aaaaah! Sorry - wrong book. I meant "Great Expectations", and the recluse in question was Miss Haversham.

Reason for being a recluse - clinically depressed person, but getting better. I seem to cope best when I don't have to cope with other people.
Reasons for researching Hockney - a) because he's great; b) because I havew to write a 6000 word illustrated essay on him for my Art A-level.

Clinically depressed? Why? Have things been really so bad? I am glad to hear you are getting better though (and realising it).
I cannot claim to be familiar with the work of Hockney but, if you say he is great, I will take your word for it. Good luck with the essay, I hope it goes well.

I believe techies are misjudged. Most actors seem to think we get big heads or think were kingsand queens. I disagree. Our heads are no bigger than theirs(though thats not saying much), and we don't THINK that we are kings and Queens of the world, cause we KNOW we are. Sorry had to get back on the topic here.

the actors seem to forget that we have overall control on lights etc. i was working on 1 show and the director pissed us all off we unpluged all the lights and left. 20 minutes later she was calling us up appologising and letting us do things how we had agreed! the actors howver when we got back started taking the piss so we left again! needles to say the show was cancelled! do i feel guilty? a bit.. however we had been experiancing 4 months of hell from them before and it all came to a head!
