oh and is liking being known as researcher 170137, instead of having some daft nickname pretentious?

Remember, don't just use long stroke, but make sure it's with a quill with a long feather that flops around a lot.

This post strikes very close to home indeed (both from recognising the traits as my own and living around the corner from the place described, ahaha!). I frequent the Bierodrome establishment quite frequently, and Hoegaarden is quite simply the best (though I'm not quite high-up enough to actually know how to pronounce the damn thing).

Giraffe is one of the best cafe's in Islington (also Ruby in the Dust, for the more rustic atmosphere), and as I live only one minute away from it down the road on Upper Street, it's perfect for casually sipping at a cocktail... smiley - bubbly

(That pretentious enough? smiley - smiley)

Actually Islington is great, it's trendy but self-conciously so. Anyone fancy co-writing an article on it? It could be the first place thoroughly H2G2ed, so that every cafe, bar, resteraunt is covered...

Last night, I ate at a new restaurant here in New York that boasts 200 varities of cheese to order. I got to skip the ordinary Swiss fondue as being too pedestrian. Pretentious, moi? smiley - smiley

Here, there seems to be a certain pretension in paying large amounts of money for shabby looking clothes. And I just get that look without even trying!

Yeah I guess I ought to be preparing for exams too...

But hey, revision's only for people who didn't learn it the first time round yeah? smiley - winkeye

Of course, Hoegaarden is only pretentious in England. Over in Belgium, it's generic swill... smiley - blue

I'll stick to Bitburger... smiley - smiley

Maybe, but it still tastes better than any lager.

Is the double 'L' in chilli, the British spelling? That's good, because British forms are the first thing that we colonials adopt when we wish to be pretentious.

Lager and beer? thats not very sophisticated is it? Who are you pretending to be? What image are you aspiring to? Especially when you develop a beer belly and portmanteaux under the eyes..... you certainly wouldn`t impress me. Why don`t you step up a notch and try some Jacob`s Creek ?

What about the Teletubbies as a post-nuclear fantasy? Think about the bunker they live in, the mutated heads, only having custard to eat, "time for tubby bye bye"; frightening, isn't it?
