I remember that Paul and Chani did have children, but wasn't Leto the child of Jessica? Didn't Paul and Chani have twins? Did baby Leto die in the first book or a later book? Can someone back me up on this?

Maybe it's different in the movie, I haven't seen it. Or maybe I'm just confused.

In the first Dune book, Duke Leto is Paul's father. The Lady Jessica is Duke Leto's concubine and Paul's mother. Jessica's only other child was Alia, Paul's sister, who is born during the first book, Dune. Chani is Paul's concubine and their first child is Leto, but he is killed while still an infant. Paul and Chani later have twins; a boy who is also called Leto, and a girl called Ghanima. At the end of 'Children of Dune' (I think - it's a while since I read the books), Ghanima is betrothed or married to the son of the Padisha Emperor (who may actually be the emperor by that time) and Leto merges with the young of a sandworm to become 'God Emperor of Dune'.

I'm a bit hazy on details as it's some time since I read any of the books, especially the early ones. I am sure of the relationship between Paul, Jessica and the various children, but I am happy to stand corrected on any other details.

I too am a little hazy on the later details, but CD you got the Paul's immediate family definately 100% right.

IN children of DUne Alia is the one who took Puals place of the empororship. Theres a side plot that includes the Corrino house of a plan to retake the throne. the one intended to take the throne was a nephe of Shaddam, as he had no Male hiers. Ghanima's humsband actually is Leto II. This is only for political reasons. He cant mate with her because he has the sandworm skin that has covered all but his face. He does start a breeding plan and the first step is the emperors nephew and Ghanima. Hope this cleans anything up.

You are wrong on the identity of Ghanima's husband. Leto II is Ghanima's twin brother, so he can't be her husband. You are right about him merging with sandworms and the breeding plan, though.

Nope, I read over it and Leto says the Farad'n and Ghani will be betrothed, but she will marry him(Leto) to keep to Atriedes name. They are twins but Leto isnt human and Farad'n is Ghani's "mate".

And Farad'n is Shadam's grandson, the son of his doughter Winsiscia (sister to Irulan), not his nephew.
