Think of the plusses. I'm really good at solving anagrams. And reading other people's newspapers upside down.

I'm speeching.
No seriously though, out of the dyslexics here do any of you have the ability (wheter it's actually an ability is debatable) to put a colour to letters and names, say for example what colour would you say the follwoing words are:
Steve
Cube
Future
600
(e.g. Tom = Blue with a touch of red)
Let me know and I'll confer.
There is a name for this thing - it's long and so the chances of spelling it left are probable.

Synaesthesia Knifee. Try Googling.
http://www.macalester.edu/~psych/whathap/UBNRP/synesthesia/main.html seems quite good at first glance.
Can't help with the coloured words but I see coloured sounds and smells.
According to that site 15% of people with synaesthesia have someone with dyslexixa, ADD or autism in their immediate family. Being both dyslexic and hyperactive probably explains it then.

arr-ha thx Tefkat, just had a read of the site you linked to, its interesting stuff. I think it would be interesting to see if ne1 has a reason for the aparent assosiation between synaesthesia and dyslexia in familys.... i guess its all conected to different brain chemistries??

Tefkat Posted May 19, 2002
I know hyperactivity is associated with missing enzymes and I believe autism has a connection with an excess of testosterone but actually dyslexics are supposed to have different brain structures, rather than just chemistries.

[hyperactivly...] Yep different (ha hee hee) brain structures (where ...? where are they?) that creat memories differentrly, well in fact dont make them. Well we do make them but ... where was I going with this (ahh he he ) oh yes it just takes a while. So instead of just..... forgetting what I was talking about....
: seeing keys on the sideboard and making a conection
[keys = sideboard]
I go: I'll just put my keays over on the sidebaord
[keys = ?].
Err where are my keys? Oh yes here they are on the sidebaord
[keys = ?].
Damn I allwasys loose these keys, I hate my self.. oh here that are on the sideboard
[keys = ?].
Help help! I need my keys where are they?!? Oh here on the sidebaord
[keys = sidebaord!]
{things in [ ] are brain connections:}
So it takes a number of attemps to make a connection meaning shorterm memory is non existant (not good for cramming). Which is why I've completely forgotton what it was I was replying to (honnestly )

Me too.
This morning my crutches fell down behind the driver's seat and my son adjusted them and then said "I think your stilts are going to fall again" and my brain translated "stilts" to "pogo sticks"... A wonderful image with which to start the day. Couldn't happen in a non-dyslexic family.
Oooooooh - I like Dailysex. May I have it please? I normally use Dialsexy - yours is so much better.
