A Conversation for Homebrewing

Roll out the barrel?

Nice article.
I first started homebrewing over 20 years ago (still alive to tell the tale & not too fat either) and the first time was a starter kit from Boots which made about a dozen pints for which bottles were used. Thought this was a bit tedious for 40 pints which is the usual size of kit so I went back to Boots and bought one of their splendid metal barrels.
Brewing proved to be such a pleasure that a couple of years later I went back & purchased another barrel which meant that supplies would never run dry.
The kits nowadays have improved quite a lot. I usually get one that contains all the ingredients so that all that needs adding is the 5 gallons of water. Certainly an improvement - tastewise - on the one can & a bag of sugar approach way back in the early days.

smiley - ale
