Argon0's Ski Resort Reports
Created | Updated Jan 21, 2003
Ski Resorts are the place one gos to when one wishes to throw oneself down a mountain at high speed with only the assistance of 1 or 2 pieces of Wood (depending on Preference). They range from the Absurd (e.g. skiing in Iran) to the ridiculous (Milton Keynes) to the absolutely Splendid (e.g. Crans Montana).
Ski resorts are often famed for their Party Atmosphere - with quality of Apres Ski being a major reason for choosing a resort. This can often lead to an even more challenging ascent/descent of the mountain the next day. The quality/variety of Ski Lifts is another major factor to consider when choosing a resort. A preponderance of T-Bars & Pomas (button Lifts)is to be avoided, as this can lead to many hilarious "I was dragged Halfway up the mountain" stories. The alternative - Chairlifts - can be just as daunting for novices - see the excellent article How to survice a Charilift Ride.
The Best resorts are to be found on(or near) Mountains, Milton Keynes being the obvious exception. Europe and North America have arguably the best skiing, with the most runs, although some southern Hemisphere resorts are catching up quickly. Most resorts offer a choice of Alpine or Cross Country Skiing. Alpine Skiing generally being the most popular.
Although there is a bit of Snobbery amongst some Skiers most resorts allow Snow Boarders , Mono-Skiers, Big Footers, & Snow Bladers to share the slopes too.
Here are some of the more popular Skiing Resorts. I hope to add to this as time goes by. My intention is to grow this article as I Ski more places! I hope people will contibute by adding their own thoughts/reviews, either by putting reviews into discussions or putting links to their review pages into the discussions - I will then add these into the main article.
