A Conversation for Yes - the Line-ups of the Band

That's all very well, but what about 1991 - 2001?

This chronology is fine, but it stops a clear decade ago!

What about the 1994 re-formation of the 90125 line-up (post Union), the 1996 re-re-formation of the "classic" Anderson, Squire, White, Wakeman, Howe line-up (for the N'th time).

Add to that the re-re-re-leaving of Wakeman, and the recruitment of Sherwood in 1998 and Igor in 1999 and there's been not 15 but 17 members of the band over the years.

Then Sherwood left (to persue "Solo Projects" - ie he was dumped), and Igor left (no published reason, just the band saying "he was never a *full* member", and them being in the studio now as a quartet - Anderson, Squire, White and Howe - working with an orchestra for the first time in 30 years.

All in all the last decade has had as much in it (including the releases of more hours of material than ANY previous decade) to require it to be on your list.

Admittedly there was at least one album (Open Your Eyes) that the world would have been a better place without, but most fans of the band would admit that the new tracks on KTA 2 and The Ladder stack up against (or ahead) of anything they've done for a lifetime.

Pan, the piper at the gates of dawn

Igor Khoroshev was involved in an "incident" while on tour involving a young lady fan. This led to his dismissal, and presumably the cancellation of the Anderson/Khoroshev project.

By the way, the current touring lineup is again Anderson, Squire, Howe, White, and Wakeman.

Actually it appears that the Khoroshev/Anderson project is nearly complete and just needs a bit of space in the schedules to complete.

I think that a more comprehensive Yes article would be good.

Whoops, seems that news is nearly a year old. Sorry.

Anyway, I think a more comprehensive Yes article is called for.

You're right. A new Yes atricle is required, especially since Rick Wakeman had rejoined... again.

Would you be willing to do do a comprehensive Yes article together?

I would quite happily help write the definitive Yes History. It would give me something to do on those long cold Summer/Autumn/Winter nights.

Smashing smiley - biggrin I've been wanting to do one for ages but its a big project. So how well do you know the music of Yes?

I've got all the studio albums, all the live albums except House of Blues and none of the compilation albums except The YesYears box. Which was fab. Unfortunately i've only seen them live twice and not on the Magnification tour, which is a shame.

However with the new tour, and The Great Wakeman back on board, hopefully they'll come back!

I'd be willing to assist. I've been following them for quite a while. Even though there are a few new tunes in the latest box set, it seems a waste to buy it for that. I've also followed some of the paths the players have taken outside Yes, to add a little more.

Thanks both of you. It would be interesting to add what former band members are doing now i.e Peter Banks, Patrick Moraz, Bill Bruford, Trevor Rabin.
Another bit we could add would be on the artwork

Peter Banks has a couple of ~somewhat~ recent solo albums in a similar vein to Ant Phillips recent solo output, Patrick Moraz contributed a track to a recent Genesis tribute album, Bruford has his Earthworks project, and may hook up with Tony Levin for another Upper Extremities disc sometime (hopefully), whereas Rabin has been concentrating on Soundtrack work.

Roger Dean's visuals did mesh nicely with the audio.

Patrick Moraz was also a member of the Moody Blues after leaving Yes

One option would be to take a look at the current "In A Word" Box set, and talk about the various LPs and CDs that were sampled, the lineups etc.

They're currently on tour in North America, with a pencilled in trip round Asia and Australia in 2003 (their first Oz adventure for about 30 years).

How does one go about collaborating on these things?

Let me know

Its fairly simple actually. What happens is I will create a new article number for the new Yes article. Then I will add your researcher numbers into the box on the edit entry page. Therefore you will also be able to edit and add things to the entry. We could decide what each person could do. For example one person could research biographies, we could all do a share of the album reviews.

I've never done it before, but it seems straightforward enough...

BTW are we looking to re-do the entire limeline, or simply add the last 12 years?

As this will most probably be a consice article, I don't know where the existing material would be placed. We could start from scratch?

Seems more reasonable to start over.
