A Conversation for Barbecue Recipes

Ugh-ly American Response

Post 1

The Butcher

Sorry for my compatriot's rude response about leaving "barbeque" to the Americans. In my opinion, good food goes across borders.

Speaking of borders, in the South (of the U.S.), "barbeque" is not so much the term for grilling on an open fire, as it is the term for the food itself. You'd probably not hear a real southerner say, "I'm going to barbeque some ribs," which is what one of us northerners might say (improperly). Rather, they'd say that they're going to "cook some barbecue". To them, it's a noun, not a verb. And really I guess they're right, since it's a southern invention.
