HEY!! what about micheal balzary!! ok he might be one of the most obvious examples, but still, he's one AMAZING bassist! incase anyone doesn't actually know who i'm on about, he's commonly know as 'flea' from the red hot chili peppers. thank you.

I don't think that Flea can be put up on a list with the likes of Jaco Pastorius and Victor Wooten. Whilst the bass that Flea plays is entirely appropriate for the Chili's, it isn't ground breaking. I am not saying that Flea is bad ,technique wise, just that he is of no compare to either Wooten or Pastorius.

The Iron Maiden

I'm yet to hear something from Cliff Burton that makes me think of him as more than an average bassist. Anathesia is basically the bridge of Phantom Of The Opera by Iron Maiden but slower. I can't remember a single remarkable thing about Orion, though it has been a long time since I listened to it.

Now, you want a bass solo, check out Black Arrows by ManOwaR. Joey DeMaio makes a laughing stock out of Cliff Burton!

Forgive my interruption......But have any of you heard "In memory of Cliff?"

P.s: Orion rocks (even though I'm groing sick of Metallica. Well not quite..... You can never grow sick of metallica, at least not their first albums)

Heavy metal forever!

I agree...I was fortunate enough to see Cliff play live with Metallica. I saw them in Long Beach, CA in June of 1986 when Metallica was the warm up band for Ozzy. Amazing guy...ken
