Escape Pod Dreams, The 1905 Issue, Party of Three

I had a conversation with my sunday school teacher last Sunday. He said he had no interest in history, just the 'here and now'. I told him the 'here and now' had no meaning without a knowledge of how much of it was a lie. You can get a sense of beginnings, sources and continuity from learning about history that modern commentators and advertisers will not bother to mention. He said,
'Who but you has time for all this?'

I truly believe that he didn't really understand the import and the humor of what he had just said. Here is a man who has spent a lot of the last thirty years 'teaching' about events that occurred 2000 years ago (Hi, Mel!) and yet he has demonstrated to me over the last four years that he doesn't know a whole hell of a lot about what was happening during what should have been to him a very important period in history. The other 'adolts' in the class have also demonstrated a very dim view of history, real and imagined, to the point where I believe that a properly dressed person could tell them anything and they would believe it.
