One of my friends didn't go to the prom because he didn't have a date so he just stayed at home and continually phoned us during the night on our mobile phones because he wanted to tell us what a good night he was having on his own. It just goes to show that if you don't go to the prom then you may either turn into a sad loner (if you aren't already)or you could lead a perfectly normal life. Until someone asks you why you didn't go to the prom and you have to give an excuse for not going, this makes you look even more sad than you may be.

I went to my high school formal (we don't have 'proms' in Australia ^.^) and spent more time being depressed there than I would have at home. At least if I were at home I could've gone and had a few drinks with my mates...

For homecoming, the next biggest dance of the year, this year, a bunch of us went to a friend's house, from there to a park and a cookout in the rain and wind, and had a great time. This was all greater fun than standing around some noisy room trying to hold a coherent conversation through waves of bombarding rap "music" until the evening ended with the backstreet boys or some such garbage.

Or if you're twisted and addicted to games, you can just stay at home and play Starcraft all night, which is much more self-satisfying (In my humble opinion) then getting drunk.

lol. no offence dude. but u really need to get a life! how can u say playing games on the net is better than getting drunk?!? you really need to get out more.. i agree that proms are so batty and stupid! i'd much rather just stay at home and get drunk.. people who are obsessed with proms REALLY bug me.

Sit at home and get drunk. The answer to everything. mm . . . *hiccup*

I'm not planning to attend my prom (which is still several years away). However, I might go out to Hot Topic ('alternative' clothing store) and get a ripped-up black dress, and then have my goth friends do my makeup and stuff, but that would be the only way I'd go. It would be fun to watch people's reactions, at least. Considering that most of my peers have spent their entire school careers in insulated groups of people who dress EXACTLY like they do.

And you know what really makes me angry? White eyeliner. A thick stripe of bright white on the upper eyelid. Has anyone else seen this inexplicable phenomenon? It looks really stupid. And no one seems to realize this.

I beleive Proms biggest weakness is that, as previously stated, these are people you see every day in school, dressing to look good. The biggest problem with this is that most of them have neither the manner nor the knowledge and demenor it takes to truly wear those suits. You get people wearing Zoot Suits who only think they know how to dance(I take this as a personal insult as I Am a Dancer), You get jocks Without an ounce of taste running around think they are James Bond.

I my self never went to my prom for those reasons. I have however gone to 3 since and have 1 more coming up this week. This is because if you go to places were you don't know anyone but your date it's a peice of cake to imagine that the people there actually have class.

I love that after prom all these people who have been putting on a facade instantly loose it and become idiots again. It is my personal Opinion that like most things Prom could be great if it was worked on a little. First If someone would rather be home watching a game on TV, they should do it. If you would rather be Playing Video games, More power to you. The only reason one should go to prom is if that is how like to spend their time. As a ballroom dancer, I find nothing more insulting than people who think they can spend money dress up and instantly become classy. If it's not your thing don't go. Or better yet have your own party doing somthing you enjoy. That's what I did instead of going to my Prom.

Well I don't know if anyone finds this message terribly interesting, I just felt the need to vent. But I will tell you not going to prom doesn't make you less cool. In my personal Opinion it makes you much cooler than the people who go to prom thinking they belong there even though they've never spent of moment of their life being a gentelmen. And it proves that you are gentelmen, by not taking on somthing that you do not enjoy.
