... who decides not to go to prom is depressed about it. I can certainly see the advantages to staying home. Friends of mine who are a few years older than me decided to go to an amusement park instead of their prom, which I think is an all-round better idea.

I skipped my prom and was fine with it. It attucaly would have been great except that one of the people from my RPG group decide to go so we had to cancel the session the rest of us were planing..

It should be up to the students on whether or not to have a prom or attend a prom. It wouldn't be a bad idea for the student councils to hold a vote every year and see how many want a prom- how many will attend- how many would rather do another activity and if so what activity. I think the school boards money would be better spent if something like this was done. Prom is awesome though however you choose to spend it. It can be a night about pretty Prom Dresses or a night of pure fun with your closest friends.
