h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

My recipe (well actually an old boyfriend's - but we don't mention him anymore!) for the ultimate bacon sarnie. Works a treat as a cure for hangovers, any kind of blues and the munchies

take 2 slices thick soft white bread

- spread one slice with butter
- spread one slice with Daddys Brown Sauce (beats HP anyday)

fry sliced mushrooms in butter with a sprinkling of black pepper until they go all dark and luscious

grate some strong cheddar

move the mushrooms to the side of the pan and add the bacon - fry until almost crispy.

layer it up (the order is important) - bread with butter, cheese, mushrooms, bacon, bread with sauce........

eat!
die happy!

I've tried a variation on that recipe... Except that I don't tend to fry the bacon, but I can see the added flavour in this case to recommend it.

I do find that adding cheese to a bacon sarnie does affect the falvour somewhat, and I don't think it is really to my taste, but hey each to their own, eh?
