*plaintively, like a true exile*
Didn't the Young Ones break up a while back? I couldn't get anybody else here in Florida to understand them.

Gwennie Posted Mar 7, 2000
After "The Young Ones", Ade Edmonson (Vivian) and Rick Mayall (Rick) did "Bottom" which was a hilarious series... The kids love it too! We've got videos of the series and of the Bottom stage plays...

I think there was something inbetween that. It got shown on 'politically incorrect night' on BB2 ages back. Those two, plus Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders (I think) did a series in which they were all posh people. I remember it for this peice of dialogue that cracks me up each time:
"I say, that porter looks foreign!"
"Yes, I bet he's got a name like 'golliwog' or something."
Aaaagh! Just remembered! I forgot to go see Guest House Paradiso at the cinema! Oh no!

Gwennie Posted Mar 12, 2000
Aha! Your memory must be going - that happens when you get older, you know! *Gwennie giggles* Senile, senile, time for the home! You must have caught it hanging out with us oldies!

Phew, well, at least you don't find old people with skateboards
Hey, Gwennie, where were you in '79 when the dam began to burst?
Rabbit joke...
The High Duke of Mars Posted Mar 13, 2000
Wait a minute, I have my two cents ...
A frog walks into a bank and hands the teller, Mr. Paddiwack, a small trinket.
Mr. Paddiwack looks at the trinket in confusion.
The frog looks expectantly at Mr. Paddiwack.
Mr. Paddiwack goes to his supervisor, who returns, looks at the trinket, looks at the frog, and proclaims:
"That's a knick-knack, Paddiwack, give the frog a loan ..."
You may all groan.

Oh, me and my friends have a song based on that little tune that is totally inappropriate for h2g2 !

Gwennie Posted Mar 13, 2000
*Gwennie, being senile already, wonders which dam burst in 79 Mike A is refering to........*
Rabbit joke...
Mike A (snowblind) Posted Mar 13, 2000
I am, of course, referring to none other than the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal!
Rabbit joke...
Gwennie Posted Mar 14, 2000
Oh THAT one!
Nope - wasn't paying much attention to be truthful as I was had just wedded my first husband and was heavily "in lust"!!!
Rabbit joke...
Mike A (snowblind) Posted Mar 15, 2000
Ah, nudge nudge wink wink.
I have vowed never to marry and never to have kids.
Talking about kids, those rabbits sure bonk like crazy don't they?!
Rabbit joke...
Gwennie Posted Mar 17, 2000
*Gwennie nods knowingly*
I agree..... Stay single, have fun but do no harm......
*Thinks that she's "one to talk" having got married twice!*
Rabbit joke...
Mike A (snowblind) Posted Mar 17, 2000
Do no harm??? That's boring. There are a lot of people who deserve harm...a lot of people I don't like...they live in Other Countries...oh dear...have I said too much?
Nah, I'm jusyt a typical Brit. None of us like the French!
Or Germans. Man did they earn it...

The High Duke of Mars Posted Mar 18, 2000
I remember an excellent Rowan Atkinson special I saw a few years back where Rowan was playing Satan. His list of Hell's occupants was something to the effect of:
"Rapists, all of you stand over there next to that small guillotine. Thieves, you lot stand over there. Murderers, thank you. Lawyers, queue there. Christians, yes I'm sorry, the Jews were right. The French (just stand over there by the Germans.)"
Actually the people I really feel for are the Québecois. Bless them, they have all the pretense of real French people but no true ground upon which to base it -- even the French despise them.

I've got the l.p. which has that track on it, "Rowan Atkinson Live in Belfast" I think it's called......
Rabbit joke...
Mike A (snowblind) Posted Mar 18, 2000
Yeah, my dad's got that! It's great, isn't it? So funny, so very very funny.
And there's the song I Hate The French.
Yeah, the only bit I haven't heard from it is the Do Bears sketch. Anyone wanna tell me about it?
Rabbit joke...
Gwennie Posted Mar 18, 2000
*Gwen doesn't like to admit that she'd have to kick the kids off Cartoon Network and play said track before she could pass comment..*
Rabbit joke...
Mike A (snowblind) Posted Mar 18, 2000
No going back now, it seems.
Any chance if it happening now, por favor?
Rabbit joke...
Gwennie Posted Mar 19, 2000
C'mon! It's the weekend - Cartoon Network rules, okay? Do you think I'm stupid enough to kick them off the t.v. - they might want me to start mothering them or something! Kids are a very dangerous species, you know..... Perhaps when they back at school next week, hey?
