They had got rid of the songs Ringo wrote and put George ones in instead..........
*Sigh*

I knew - but the Beatles disapproved of it, unlike Yellow Submarine. To find out about Yellow Submarine, there's an article I found:

And what's wrong with "Octopus's Garden"? That's one of my favourites, and "Don't Pass Me By" wasn't bad too.

nothing wrong with some of those songs as such, just that they don't fit in with the other songs on the various albums. Totally different mood. If he had saved them for a solo album it would have been a lot better IMHO
They recently showed Yellow submarine at one of the (few remaining) indy cinemas. Unfortunately i didn't get a chance to go...... and besides it wasn't mushroom season

Well, I generally agree that Harrison songs tend to be more in the vien of Beatles that I expect, but Ringo added a certain character to the group. His songs were good comic relief

I can't argue with that, its just that they just don't seem to fit when you listen to the albums these days

What fits into the "White Album"? It's so much a mixture - what do you prefer - "Don't Pass Me By" or "Revolution 9"?

Don't pass me by, but if I were stoned (which I've never been) I might enjoy Revolution 9

It's the one Beatles "song" that annoys - I normally skip past it.

I blame her for "Sisters O Sisters" and "Born in a Prison" - OUCH! My ears!

Irving Washington - Gone Writing Posted Feb 12, 2000
I blame her for all that, and Sean Lennon.

She should have kept herself out of venues such as "The Rolling Stones' Rock and Roll Circus". Maybe people who like what she called "art" appreciated her "singing" but the audiences she presented herself to with John by her side were not the elite avante garde crowed, they wanted to be entertained, not... whatever it was she was doing. And she did it poorly. John loved her vary deeply, and that was a redeeming quality that everyone forgets. He let her affect him so profoundly because he wanted to be with her, and because she filled a gap in him that nothing else could. I'm not "on her side", but had she not come along and caused the breakup of the Beatles, the band would have continued at the cost of Lennon's happiness. Perhaps he would have eneded up like one of those VH1 Behind the Music specials where David Crosby or Eric Clapton spend entire decades in decline because of heavy drug use and self destruction. His life may have ended much sooner than December, 1980.

Its always a bit hard to predict what ifs........... you could be right of course, although things were not always fantastic between the two of them.
One thing you probably can say is that the image of the beatles would probably be somewhat tarnished if they had kept going for much longer, as per the strolling drones, who should have stopped in the early seventies.........

I've heard that in the stone's recent concerts they've become more musically sophisticated. They probably should have broken up in the early 70's and then had several reunions.

a much better idea. Lets face it most people only want to hear the old stuff anyway.
Its not as if they needed the money..........
