Skaters listening to the same music as preps? Hahahhahahahahahaha! Generally meshing with them? Hahahahahahahaha! Believe me, the skaters don't go NEAR the preps. Ever. They don't associate with them in any way. At all.

If only that were true. Unfortunately, in my school, football players rub shoulders with self-proclaimed "anarchists" (most of them can't even spell it, much less know what it means). The cheerleaders think that this white-suburbia "rebellion" is just SO CUTE, so they date the skaters. There are basically two differences between skaters and jocks: A) Skaters wear baggier jeans, and B) Skaters are more likely to smoke pot (because, at least at my school, athletes undergo mandatory drug testing).

Wow. My view on life has certainly changed since I wrote that two years ago.
1) I no longer use the generalizing, dumb terms "skaters," "preps," "jocks," et cetera.
2) I realized that everyone who is trying to give off a certain image ends up hanging out with all the other fake kids. And they all do listen to the same music. And...yeah...

Has anyone else noted the goth explosion, the townie/goth downkeep and the steady and rapid increase of skaters. Maybe it's just in Britain but a couple of years ago goths ruled and then the townies rebbeled and the goth numbers decreased. In my school there are only 2 goths who make it public knoledge. 1 of them is me!
