Let me take a gander at the nerds one:
Music - Whatever sounds good
Clothes - Whatever feels comfortable and is respected by their elders
Attitude - Very reserved and quiet, especially when a member of the opposite sex is around, but very amicable if you reach out to them.
Hang-outs - In class, seeing as how they can socialize just as easily there in comfortable seats as they can doing so in the stuffy halls.

Nerds often listen to (gasp!) classical music, do they not?

You are so right! We nerds are proud of our nerdly conversations and attitudes. Only differing opinon I have is that nerds are not all awkward around the opposite sex, get a large group of us in a computer lab and gender goes out the window! Which is interesting, the quiet ones are the ones to watch out for... Nerds can be found hanging out in chat rooms all across the board, having little or no regard for the meaningless yammerings of the other factions. ( (Football is a spring sport, right?) Nerds get along best with Freaks/Goth types, and least with preps....after all, we don't like anyone taking our claim to fame as the best and the brightest! total joke, don't kill me! :::hides under covers::::

Althought the title is "American Teenage Stereotypes" this is actually very true of nerds throughout the world. I have lived and hung around with nerds in four countries, and they are all the same. Everything said here is very true, or at least as true as stereotypes go.
One of the things you managed to miss however is that all nerds are always right :-p. Heisenberg's second principal, Newton's fourth law and Einstein's Principal of Nerdy Brilliance all show this to be true.
Also, I say so, and I am a stereotypical teenaged Nerd .

Wahey Nerds! Me and my friends listen to an odd mixture of Mozart and metal, with the occasional goth band here and there. Mozart over REM is really, really good, by the way. Two walkmans, and earphone from each, and Bobs your uncle.
