Well, the tea arrived in the 1600s and tea was very good for us Brits in those days, because boiling the water killed the off the plague bacteria thingamies ...... then obviously much later came tea houses .... Lyons were the biggest I think and they employed Nippys who served the tea ..... thousands of Nippys were used at great tea parties ...... public information films were made to show us commoners how to make a good cup of tea .... London cabbie tea houses are now listed buildings .... don't know how many there are left, but listed every one.
That is the extent of my research so far, and I hope you'll be able to run with it.

Mary Mallon Oirish gal who killed about a dozen .... accidently .... by being a cook and transferring Typhoid to her employers .... held on an Island by the Americans ..... without trial twice .... the last time to her death I think. Sharp as a tack was Mary, but unable to grasp she could be a carrier without being a tyhoid sufferer.
with that then ..... trying to entice Moonhogg to do the other one.
Alternatives to sugar ....... did I tell you I'm stuck on a Uni project.
