Have to admit to not reading the thread backlog, but the list needs to be in proper sentances.
Also if Speedo is a brand, then I think it should have a capital letter each time it's used.

Not too sure if this Entry covers the 'effectively a brand new Entry' criteria, thus deserving a Front Page slot?

All entries in the Update Forum get a Front Page slot. That was agreed with the Eds a while back.

No Gnomon, not a Front Page slot as in the recently updated section, a Front Page slot with the three Front Page items, that is;
"If your update is effectively a brand new entry, you can request for it to be put through the normal editing process once it leaves here. That way, the new entry will eventually get its day on the Front Page. However, if you're not too fussed about being Front Paged again, we can process it and get it straight into the Edited Guide immediately."
A recent example of this (I think) was the Entry on Pizza, which not only got a 'recently updated' allocation, but also shared the Front Page with two 'new' EG Entries.
My understanding was, as I followed the Entry through, that the "normal editng process" was that 'new' Update gets allocated a slot in the Coming Up queue, is subbed (if necessary) and then receives Front Page allocation, just as any other Entry coming through Peer Review would.
I think Natalie may be able to confirm this though.

That procedure was changed.
Any entry that is updated through the update forum gets:
1. A link in the "recently updated" section of the front page, which remains there until pushed out of place by another entry.
2. A Front Page promo in a special section, with a three line description. This is the equivalent of a normal new Edited Entry promo.

Hi Matt!
Just a thought or two:
Intro 1st sentence: Isn't the material a mixture of synthetics, including lycra?
Intro 1st sentence: Speedo sell more cossies than any other brand, and they market very successfully to the fair sex too...perhaps the Entry title should be 'Speedos for Men' or something to indicate that Speedo is not a men's only brand?
Warning! end: (boardshorts)?

Well, there you go.
If it's been changed, then perhaps the information on the page needs Updating...oh the irony.
Nice that we get told all these details though Forgive me, but I've had a VERY tiresome day...

G'day Matt!
You're probably going to strike me off your Xmas list for this, but there are one or two things that worry me about the Entry - and I'm not referring to the odd missing comma (which I'll leave to the Sub-Ed to fix):
Intro 1st para: I'll always think of the brand as Australian, but, in fact, they were taken over by the British group 'Pentland' back in 1991.
Wearing Speedos 1st line: This is what worries me most. I know it's a light-hearted Entry, but I wonder if Pentland/Speedo would be amused - you have the power to bring multinational corporations to their knees, and with that power comes responsibility...
Warning!: (how about 'her opinion of men parading in Speedo briefs'?)

It's much better - if Speedo even think about suing, you can don your favourite pair of Speedo briefs and pay them a visit (at Squires Lane, next to the indoor swimming pool I used regularly as a child). I'm sure they'll get your point.

Oh, and I'm happy with the balance of the Entry also, as the intention is to mock the Speedo to some extent.

Matt
I imagine that one of the 'old-timers' we have ... we are lucky enough to have ... on this thread will let you know if there are any problems with the Entry as it stands.
But to more serious matters: I've spotted a 'whilst'! It's most of the way down the penultimate paragraph - I think you know what we do with 'whilst's...
Even more significantly:
Wearing Speedos mid 2nd para:
It is also rarely acceptable to stuff a pair of socks down the front of a pair of Speedos to accentuate what little is there. It is also very poor form to wear Speedos anywhere outside of the swimming or wrestling arena (comic book heroes can get away with it by apparently wearing tights underneath). [just breaking up the sentence a bit]?
No lazy daze for you awhile, methinks!
Key: Complain about this post
